8. The five stages
Chest X-rays, CT scans and blood tests show how far the cancer has spread:
β’ Stage 0: only in the bladder lining
β’ Stage 1: past the lining but not into the bladder muscle
β’ Stage 2: into the bladder muscle
β’ Stage 3: into the tissue around the bladder
β’ Stage 4: spread beyond the bladder to other parts of the body
Bladder cancer is more common in men, smokers and older adults. Blood in your urine, pain when you pee and needing to go more often are signs to take seriously. Doctors find it with urine tests, scans and a camera, then treat it based on how far it's spread. The earlier it's caught, the more options you have.
8. Olive oil
The healthy fats in olive oil soften and soothe dry skin, and its antioxidants help protect it from damage. Work a small amount into the affected area.
Severely dry skin calls for moisture that stays put and something to calm the irritation. Honey, shea butter, oats, cucumber, coconut oil, milk, aloe vera and olive oil do both, without the price tag or the harsh chemicals.
8 HOME REMEDIES FOR SEVERELY DRY SKIN
Cracked, tight, itchy skin doesn't need an expensive cream. The fix is probably already in your kitchen.
1. Honey
7. Aloe vera
Most people only reach for it after sunburn, but it works on very dry skin too. It cuts redness and swelling, and its natural sugars, called polysaccharides, lock moisture in. Rub a little of the gel gently into the skin.
15. Chlamydia
One of the most common STDs in the world, and one of the quietest. It infects the genitals, rectum and throat, and passes from mother to baby at birth.
When there are symptoms: discharge, burning when you pee, belly pain, rectal inflammation. Untreated, it leads to PID, infertility, ectopic pregnancy, long-term pelvic pain, testicle inflammation in men, and reactive arthritis. A simple urine or swab test finds it, and doxycycline or azithromycin cures it.
Multiple partners, skipping condoms and never getting tested are what keep all 15 spreading. Use protection, test regularly even when you feel fine, get vaccinated for hepatitis B and HPV, and treat infections fast.
14. Donovanosis
Rare, caused by the bacterium Klebsiella granulomatis. Painless sores with raised edges slowly grow on the genitals and around the anus, often with swelling.
Ignored, the sores spread and destroy tissue, invite other infections, and raise your HIV risk. A long course of azithromycin, doxycycline or ciprofloxacin heals it fully.
