Before operations, our plant staff will go onto the river to inform ice anglers in the affected area. We are also communicating with local cities and law enforcement. We encourage anyone on the ice to always exercise caution, as no ice is 100% safe to cross.
This weekend, the Allen S. King plant in Oak Park Heights, MN will be operating. The plant’s operations may affect ice conditions on the St. Croix River starting on Saturday.
The plant cycles river water for its operations. When the warmed water returns to the river, this can affect ice conditions during winter months, while creating a beneficial environment for fish and open-water anglers.
