Now that Destiny is officially complete, I finally wrote my review on steam. I hope you read it,
"After spending well over 10,000 hours in the franchise, it's finally time to write my review. The saying โI wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them,โ couldn't be truer for my time in Destiny. When I think about legendary games that etched themselves into history, they typically mastered one core experience. Skyrim was one of the most captivating single-player RPGs ever, Counterstrike perfected the competitive tactical shooter formula and World of Warcraft is the staple of timeless MMOs. Somehow, Bungie created a formula that blended the strengths of multiple genres into one seamless, unforgettable masterpiece. On top of being the smoothest and visually stunning FPS of all time, Destiny also tells mesmerizing stories, challenges you to overcome intricate endgame raids & dungeons and delivers a world class PvP arena through The Crucible. And that's only scratching the surface. Over the years, Bungie continued to release innovative playlists and activities, whether that's Trials of Osiris, the weekly competitive tournament bearing some of the game's greatest rewards, Gambit, Destiny's take on hybrid PvEvP combat or Onslaught, the challenging horde mode that tested your best character builds and much, much more.
This incredible depth of experiences created a powerful connection between players, their Guardians, and the community itself. Every journey you embarked on added to both your Guardianโs arsenal and the stories you carried with you. From earning your first set of gear during the campaign, to completing a Nightfall for your first exotic armor piece, to conquering your first raid and finally landing the perfect god roll, your Guardian truly became more than just a character on a screen. And through its endless variety of experiences, Destiny created a world where friends from all walks of life could play together. There's never been such a connected, passionate community that can jump from casual story beats to the sweatiest of challenges, while crafting a lifetime of memories.
Yes, Destiny has had its off moments, most notably the "vaulting" of paid content, a fragmented onboarding experience and an abundance of tech debt that caused quite a few "one step forward, two steps back" moments. But the good times vastly outweighed any and all of the hiccups throughout the franchise. If you're considering purchasing Destiny, I couldn't recommend it more, even in this era without new releases. The game as is stands will provide countless hours of exhilarating content well worth the purchase price.
Despite Destiny coming to an end, I will remember it forever. The thrill of day one raids, the endless hours of Iron Banner mayhem, the rewarding grinds in Grandmaster Nightfalls, I can go on and on. Thank you Bungie for creating such an impact on my life. Per Audacia Ad Astra."
I created another project. this time, a cinematic recreation of many d2 cutscenes with the journey soundtrack in the background. the support has been insane on my last video. this will be my biggest video yet.
Thank You, Guardians.
Per Audacia Ad Astra.
