Welcome to the Xena Prop Archive: a virtual exhibition of original props, costumes, and replica treasures from the television series “Xena: Warrior Princess.”
Happy 30th #Xena-versary! ⚔️
In tribute to the 30th anniversary of “Sins of the Past,” I’ve cut together a reel of some season 1 props & wardrobe pieces in my collection. Thirty years of the Warrior Princess and her Battling Bard! Here’s to 30 more. Battle on, Xenite friends! 💜
I really don’t understand how anyone ever watched this and came to the conclusion that they were anything other than completely in love. Happy Pride to the 90s lesbians who raised me. 💜🏳️🌈 #xena
@ClaireMax There is actually very minimal boning built into an internal fabric corset that is separate from the leather exterior. It’s mostly in the front.
“Hello, Mother.” 👹
Happy Mother’s Day! I’ve been saving this one specifically for the occasion. Here is Hope’s high priestess robe, screen matched to the Dahakian liturgical garment worn by Renée O’Connor as Gabrielle’s demonic telekinetic daughter in “Sacrifice: Part 2.” #xena
The neck guard exhibits a small hole worn through it from extensive production use (in fact, you can see the hole in “Soul Possession”). Joxer’s props and wardrobe seem to be few and far between these days, so I jumped at the chance to add this helm to the Archive.
“Why is everybody telling me to think? I think, I just don’t show it!”
Here is Joxer’s signature kettle helm, screen matched to the primary “hero” helmet worn by Ted Raimi throughout season 5 & in Joxer’s final series appearance from season 6, “Soul Possession.” #xena
The helm is constructed of an apex cast in flexible rubber & riveted to a skullcap & curtain neck guard woven from dried natural fibers. It is finished with a foam headband ornamented with what appear to be thermoplastic spikes. A leather chinstrap set with adjustable D-rings.
I’m doing some routine dusting today & still can’t believe I own this one: #Xena’s screen-matched copper breastplate worn by Lucy & Renée in season 1. It’s my favorite piece in my collection—a testament to the Ren Pics wardrobe team and a relic of where it all began. Battle on!
Though a static prop and practical effects prop are not twin sais in the traditional sense, I consider this pair the best of both worlds—two examples of the beautiful craftsmanship and ingenuity of the Ren Pics prop team. #xena
“You’re getting pretty good with these!”
I’m excited to share this latest accession to the Archive: a screen-used pair of Gabrielle’s sais. The mismatched pair consists of a static metal “hero” sai and a retractable practical effects resin sai. #xena
The retractable sai was specially made for stabbing close-ups. The base of the sai is resin. The central tine retracts by applying counter-pressure against the internal spring-loaded mechanism. When the counter-pressure is removed, the central tine springs back into place. #xena
@nc0gn34t0 @dads_tired@Sar_Gasmic@now_thats_oscar Xena absolutely was better. The only saving grace for H:TLJ was the extremely talented supporting cast. Michael Hurst’s Iolaus overshadowed Sorbo, who could have been replaced with a cardboard cut-out, and no one would have been the wiser for all he brought to the series.
“No one deserves that kind of power, Ares—least of all, me.”
I am excited to share this latest arrival to the Archive: a Xena’s screen-used yin-yang chakram, as seen in seasons 5 and 6 of the series. #xena
