@stoolpresidente Canada is fine at soccer. The real conversation is USA hockey.
There’s truly no world where the USA is #1 in hockey. Just a bad hockey country that stumbled themselves into a gold medal.
@mikalskuterud@Royal_Arse Maybe you’ve written about this, but what’s the path forward? I understand that you opposed the policies that lead to this, but now what?
And is remigration all chest thumping? Incentive based programs come to mind, but maybe there’s reason to doubt this would work.
@CanadienFederal@PrairieCatboy If you think AA is a reaction to identity politics, then are you now saying Canada plays identity politics? AA is common here.
It’s unusual for nationalist movements to just evaporate. Sometimes authoritarianism can end them though.
Great that you believe in a common language
@CanadienFederal@PrairieCatboy Hey man, that’s very virtuous of you not to care about identity politics.
A lot of groups do and wishful thinking won’t change that. Worse, our constitution is interpreted to require AA. You see this in gov job postings.
But how would you diffuse Sikh nationalism for ex?
@CanadienFederal@PrairieCatboy Hard to tell satire for sincerity, but Canada doesn’t practice identity politics?
Quebec, Indian status, “because it’s 2015”, race req for gov jobs, emergent ethnic enclaves, Sikh nationalism, Palestine encampments, MacDonald denigration vs support, every single heritage month
@peterrhague@ryiacy In spite of that, the family followed particularistic morality. They attempted to lie and cheat for their kin.
This is not how westerners behave. We practice universal morality. They aren’t westerners, never will be - don’t care.
@cremieuxrecueil but is it dysgenic? Seems the CCP finds seemingly dysgenic solutions to all of their problems. Speculation but I bet the one child policy was so too.
@ThomasTalhelm@G_S_Bhogal Interesting to hear that. I don’t think it’s my original interpretation but I can’t remember where else I’ve read it. Probably not obscure. In (Western) STEM most managers expect this.
Tricky to understand what motivates behaviour. Discussions get personal too (“lazy”, “lie”)
@G_S_Bhogal@ThomasTalhelm I’m with WEIRD on this one. Report back after 5 min:
> I couldn’t complete the task
Non-WEIRD ppl probably experience too much shame to do this.
The worst teammates grind on an impossible problem without flagging it. Reporting back helps realign expectations, triage resources
@G_S_Bhogal@ThomasTalhelm Imagine participating in a study and immediately breaking the rules.
> you have 5 minutes to complete this task
An honest person wouldn’t risk tainting the results by breaking the instruction.
@ThenAlexSaid1@jeremykauffman@Jessethefree Unfortunately a lot of otherwise smart people believe race isn’t real.
The problem is pop-sci, Wikipedia, MSM espouse this as scientific consensus.
Wikipedia
> modern science has concluded that race is a socially constructed phenomenon rather than a biological reality
