@ModernAwo@Mickiv3lli@BachelorIdan Really? Which part? I am from Omuo Obadore. Hmm...I am not interested in Nigerian politics like that and therefore very indifferent about the ruling cabal; I mean it´s same old same old...
@ModernAwo@Mickiv3lli@BachelorIdan Awo was d very first premier of his people whose policies eg. free education, d cocoa industry revolution including d other firsts like TV etc were hallmarks of his rule. Obey escapsulated this in d posthumous song he sang about him shortly after his demise. He did love his pple
@ModernAwo@Mickiv3lli@BachelorIdan I don't know how else to answer you unfortunately. It appears you are fishing for a particular answer you PREFER. Akintola was/is as quite popular, it depends on you are talking to. Awo is not worshipped. A lot of prominent Yorubas like MKO etc didn't appreciate his politics.
@ModernAwo@Mickiv3lli@BachelorIdan ...so it makes sense that Awo would have the most lasting impressions on his people. His party UPN reigned supreme in most of the Western states including my own state of Ekiti.
@ModernAwo@Mickiv3lli@BachelorIdan ...and furthered his policies/agendas. The fact of d matter is death cheated SLA. These 2 Yoruba giants ended up not having a level playing field. A vis-a-vis would have made sense assuming the level playing field existed, but it did not. Awo living longer was just his ACE...
@ModernAwo@Mickiv3lli@BachelorIdan ...his method, become more matured and corrected his mistakes, tell his own story himself - basically solidified his legacy more assuming his life was not cut short. Thankfully, it appears people are beginning to appreaciate what a brilliant politician he was now...
@ModernAwo@Mickiv3lli@BachelorIdan Awo lived longer & had ample opportunities to make more impressions on his pple, correct his mistakes etc. He lived almost a whopping 22 years longer than his opponent. The winner takes it all is a popular adage. He won at life & that gave him d edge. SLA´d have also finessed..
@ModernAwo@Mickiv3lli@BachelorIdan ... I am only analysing their politics & not their personalities. It´s my opinion that SLA´s d better politician. His legacy remains d North & West collaborations be it in Military or Civilian rule dat have been d template of Nigeria government since his death. Most Nigerians...
@ModernAwo@Mickiv3lli@BachelorIdan My reason for saying Awo died unfulfilled is d fact that he chased d posts of PM/president & he never won any election at d federal level to attain either of those posts becos he´d rather build alliances with d Igbos who did not have the needed numerical strength. Mind you,...
@ModernAwo@Mickiv3lli@BachelorIdan ...I mean, the British favoured d North with d way they structured Nigeria. SLA knew this & just understood politics more. Even until today, the combined/regions in Nigeria aren´t winning a presidential election without the North. SLA knew this math & just played better politics
@ModernAwo@Mickiv3lli@BachelorIdan Unfortunatly, I ain´t suscribed to X and not sure I can attach files in my posts hence why, I can´t do beyond what I am currently doing. You can avail yourself the help of Google & even YouTube which I can see you are already using. Even my tweets have limited characters/words.
@ModernAwo@Mickiv3lli@BachelorIdan ...much longer which allowed him to tell his story himself & made alliances that propelled his message. Most of the things ascribed just to Awo today like the founding of AG etc were party initiatives and not his. It seems you forgot the fact that all these pple were once friends
@ModernAwo@Mickiv3lli@BachelorIdan This is your own opinion which you´re entitled to of course. I absolutely disagree though. If Awo was taken out in 1966, he´d have be known as a convict and his legacy in ruins today. The edge he had over SLA is the fact that he lived longer & played actively player in Nigeria...
@ModernAwo@Mickiv3lli@BachelorIdan He wasn't rejected by them. There's a divide in the Action Group then and he had his own share of supporters that're also die-hards. Yoruba politics then was the Oyo caucus vs the Ijebu one. The Oyo caucus though smaller in numbers have always supported SLA
@ModernAwo@Mickiv3lli@BachelorIdan ...Politics is a game of numbers & SLA understood this more & built alliances with d winning teams thus why he was able to overcome d 'Wetie' period of his political journey. His legacy remains superior to me in hindsight. The greed of d then Igbo ruling class truncated a beauti
@ModernAwo@Mickiv3lli@BachelorIdan ...out his narratives, but d fact remains to neutral minds like myself, who has since stopped drinking the Awoists' cool aid that Awo never won an election becos he wasn't a good politician. The phrase; there's no permanent enemy/friend in politics isn't said for nothing...
