🗝️ What happened during 1898 and 1900?

1) Treaty of Paris 1898 - There were some islands that were not included in the lines.

2) The US complained to Spain and asked to include the other islands in the treaty because the Spanish Garrison won't move since one of the islands they were occupying were "out of the Treaty of Paris lines".

3) 1900 - US paid Spain 100k USD for the lines to be adjusted and the Treaty of Washington happened which amended the Treaty of Paris 1898.

4) Treaty of Washington 1900 states - "All title and claim of the title, which Spain may have had at the time of the conclusion of the Treaty of Paris, TO ANY AND ALL ISLANDS BELONGING TO THE PHILIPPINE ARCHIPELAGO, LYING OUTSIDE THE LINES" <-- of the Treaty of Paris

4) These territories outside of the lines, west of the 188 degrees east longitude, INCLUDE SCARBOROUGH SHOAL and SPRATLYS.
