@HSmith24993512 He could have lobbied the RNC to lower the H1-B caps via legislation and lobby DHS to end H4-EAD, USCIS to reduce F1 visas to zero and DOL to end PERM. And he could have made his distaste for Texans replacement openly clear. He did nothing of the sort.
@HSmith24993512 Yeah, he still hasn't said "end H-1B". He just wants to eliminate the fraud and abuse, and in his own words (paraphrasing) use immigrants "to fill the needs of the economy". He is -so far- not much different than Cornyn or Abbot on "legal immigration".
JDV, as reported by Hannah Nightingale: “My view is the H-1B program is completely broken, and I’d be very supportive of just eliminating it." Gentlemen, we are making progress.
@FranciscoG84692@Milajoy Extracting defeat out of the jaws of victory. Boris Johnson did the same. Won by a landslide but squandered it all devoting himself fully to a foreign war. Maybe foreign policy is easier to do and they think they'll be hailed as the new Churchill. Delusional.
@NeilMunroDC@desitechsuppoat 4) Scale effects lower input demand for senior care (SC) facilities reducing housing construction costs, 5) SC industry margins contract, transferring capital income to labor, via higher natives wages. 2/2
@NeilMunroDC@desitechsuppoat A multiplicity of effects at play, all good for natives: 1) Native employment increases, 2) Production function becomes more capital intensive, 3) Efforts to economize the now more expensive input labor through technology adoption ensue, elevating natives living standards 1/2
@ericadyork The game of using too many IVs or too few IVs to obtain the results you want is an old one. Although theory should guide the process, analysts are VERY flexible on this. At some point one needs to look around and trust "your own lying eyes". Yes, China's imports destroyed lives.
@Smithdanj@JDVance The long tern benefits outweigh any short term deadweight losses. And you are making the same mistake Erika York does, by assuming a fixed labor supply in the short run.
@Smithdanj@JDVance Yours is a completely static view. The benefits accrue over time in the form of faster technological development due to increasing returns to scale given the tariffs-induced capital accumulation.
@Milajoy Ken Paxton did not say a peep on the anti white male attacks by AR GOP. And while Brandon Gill called for an end to H-1B visas, Paxton is just as much pro H-1B immigration as Cornyn or Abbott. He is ok with the immigrant flood. Better than Talarico? Sure. Holy Grail? Farm from it
@TyKeynes They supply a sensible solution to the problem of interest rate and income levels determination. You are drowning-in-a glass-of-water in the silliest of ways.
@AuronMacintyre Ken Paxton did not say a peep on the anti white male attacks by AR GOP either. And he is just as much pro H-1B immigration as Cornyn or Abbott.
