UK Vehicle Technician, 8 years. Engine repairs and HV batteries. Tesla shareholder since 2022, held entirely in an ISA. I work on the old powertrains and the new ones. The stock is the long bet on that shift. Autonomy included. Short-term noise is real. Notebook, not advice.
Just dropped the PE out of a 2025 EV3. Easier to remove than the last gen in every way.
One phase on the three-phase motor is down. In the car it feels like an old-school 3-cylinder misfire.
I will be replacing the PE, which is a complete unit with the reduction gear built in.
@daltonbrewer The competition is so fierce that Elon straight up said we're not showing anything of v3 until it's useful and ready to scale. Tesla already having manufacturing lines in place means large conviction in the product and confidence in future capability.
@SawyerMerritt Curious whether Optimus working these lines was factored in when they designed the process. Unboxed already looks like it was built for something that isn’t a human.
@WallStreetApes Cybercab is built from the ground up. Waymo will struggle to scale profitably in comparison. Every aspect of the vehicle is designed for as little maintenance as possible. Small percentages over a global fleet matter. Tesla has the manufacturing experience required.
@niccruzpatane The best fluid is no fluid. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it needs to be changed on average every 2-4 years on ICE and EVs. Cybercab bypasses this, requiring less maintenance and aiding mass rollout/scale.
@fayesmith502@CallumLyon That makes sense, but even then, you can get pinched even harder by the insurance in the future. Also some excess can be £250+ which then kind of defeats the point.
I understand what you're saying. Yeah the Tennant does pay essentially.
The problem I meant was the lump sum, not the lifetime cost. £500 a month only works if it’s actually there when something goes wrong. If you decide to spend that elsewhere because mentally it's excess for example, that's where the risk could be. I'm not implying everyone is like this, just a view from the other side.
@CallumLyon It is by design. Inflate the currency to oblivion, real assets maintain value, keep 90% of the population paying taxes into eternity and artifically increase wealth inequality. Something has to give.
