A Ukrainian veteran speaks:

I have seen too much evil.
Different kinds of evil. Like all of us, like all Ukrainians. Some with my own eyes, some on the screen.

I saw people who should not have died, die. Good people. I saw how evil came and took them to their deaths.
I saw blood. A lot of blood, including my own.
I heard screams of pain. I saw the eyes of people who had survived captivity, occupation, rape, torture.
I saw people who had lost their entire families in the war. I saw people who had lost all their limbs. I saw people who had lost everything.

I am not alone. We’ve all seen it. This and much more. Evil came to us and did this.
I stopped reacting to evil the way I did at the beginning of the war.
I have seen so much of evil that it has burned everything inside me and left only emptiness.

This emptiness cannot be filled with goodness or light. I feel the emptiness being filled only when I see evil dying.
Dying, bleeding, blood gushing out, burning, and screaming. When the homes of evil burn. When evil turns into fear and screams into the camera: “Why me?”

This reduces the emptiness. This and only this.
This is no longer anger. Not a desire for revenge. It is something else.
The feeling that only this is right. And nothing else.

Despite all the fatigue, sometimes irritation, and historical memory, let us once again restore the proper importance of this obvious fact. Ukraine is fighting Russia today, a Russia that directly threatens Poland. Today is high time for us to say once again: we are Ukraine's allies in its war with Russia.

There can be no room here for any strange speculation, any ambiguity. Poland will stand with Ukraine, Poland will support Ukraine, because Ukraine is currently shouldering the brunt of resistance to Russia's aggressive policies. Let us remember this.

This is important to us, this is very important for our safety.
