Should Helen Ogbu Quit as Mayor?

Galway's Mayor Helen Ogbu and the Labour Party got caught lying about her past. Her official story said she fled Nigeria in 2006 after her husband was assassinated.
Turns out he wasn't killed until 2010 four years later. Labour called it a "typo" and quickly deleted the webpage.

This isn't a small mistake. It's a serious fib about why she claimed asylum and built her whole "refugee escape" image.

People are right to ask: if she'll lie about something this big, how can we trust her?

She's been in Ireland 20 years and does community work, but that doesn't excuse dishonesty. Being the first African woman mayor is nice, but it shouldn't protect her from basic accountability. Labour's quick defense and attacks on the media just make it look like they're covering up.Regular folks get fired for lying on their CV. Why should a mayor get a free pass? Helen Ogbu should resign. If the story she sold voters was fake, she has no business staying in the job.
