Pathetic liar! This coming from a man who for four decades has presided over a regime known world-over for the worst forms of torture is beyond shameless! The same man who publicly said that I was beaten properly when I was tortured to near death in Arua. The same man who recently boasted that he had kept our Kenyan brothers in his fridge - being subjected to incredible torture. The same man, whose criminal son broadcasts images of tortured victims and threatens opponents with the most vile forms of cruelty. A short while ago, I was more than delighted to speak with our nine comrades who came out of prison today, after six years of illegal detention without trial - Ssekitoleko Yasin Machete, Patrick Mwase, Sharif Kalanzi, Joseph Muwonge, Abdallah Kintu, Umar Emma Kato, Kavuma Musa, Jimmy Galukande and Gibusiwa Abdallah.

These comrades committed no offence, but the criminal regime refused to try them, release them on bail or simply drop the charges against them. Their only crime was supporting me and the @NUP_Ug in the 2021 election! Instead, the regime gave them only one condition- plead guilty or rot in jail. After six years of waiting, they were released on Amnesty - having appeared yet again before the military court, in complete disregard of the Supreme Court ruling that ordered their files to be transferred to ordinary courts. Either way, we are very glad to have them back. I thank everyone who has consistently demanded for their release, as well as those who have supported them and their families in every way. I thank their families for patiently waiting for this day. Aluta continua.

Disturbing scenes from Court today as kangaroo judge Mr. Baguma Emmanuel insisted on proceeding with the trial of Dr. Besigye in shocking violation of his most basic rights as an accused person.

Despite Dr. Besigye's sustained protests against being denied legal representation of his choice, the kangaroo judge proceeded to hear the testimony of the regime's principal witness Orlando Wilson, a disgraced political mercenary. We're informed that since the time Dr. Besigye eventually collapsed in Court as the bogus trial went on, he is still unconscious.

We condemn the shameful and dishonorable conduct of the kangaroo judge Baguma. All Dr. Besigye and his co-accused are asking for is a fair trial, before a fair Judge, or no trial at all! The Constitution must prevail!

Twenty days after his televised abduction and subsequent disappearance, Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi resurfaced today at the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Butambala. He has revealed that throughout his illegal detention, he endured daily torture and sustained multiple injuries. The Court, as has become the norm, just remanded him to an undisclosed prison until 11th August.

Until today when its JATT security operatives drove Hon. Kivumbi to Court, the regime had denied knowledge of his whereabouts and even filed affidavits in court to the same effect!

We continue to stand in solidarity with him and all other comrades who remain unlawfully detained or missing. We remain hopeful that justice will prevail, and that Uganda will one day become a country where every citizen enjoys their basic rights and the protection of the law.

One of the hooded JATT operatives who came with Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi to court, in full possession of some of the tools that are regularly used in torture sessions - gun, pliers, hammer, axe, knife, etc. Talk to past victims and they'll tell you how these items have been used to make citizens wail at the weight of torture- if at all they live to tell the story. These operatives even had the audacity to enter the court room, fully armed in this manner! That the judicial officer could not condemn them and instead punished Hon. Kivumbi with a long remand period is telling. UGANDA WILL BE FREE.
