The Wikipedia @Wikipedia Awareness & Edit-a-thon concluded successfully after two engaging days of learning and hands-on contribution.
On Day 1, facilitators introduced participants to the Wikimedia Foundation @Wikimedia and its free knowledge projects, including Wikipedia, Wikidata, and Wikimedia Commons. Participants learned how to create accounts, understand Wikipedia’s editing principles, and contribute to both Wikipedia and Wikidata.
Day 2 was dedicated to practical sessions, where participants applied their newly acquired skills by creating and improving African and Nigerian technology related content, helping to strengthen the representation of local innovation on global knowledge platforms.
The event brought together passionate contributors committed to expanding free knowledge and improving the visibility of African stories online.
Appreciation goes to the facilitators, participants, and partners whose support made the two day edit-a-thon a meaningful and impactful experience.

Last Monday, we proudly hosted the launch of the AWS re/Start programme in collaboration with IHS Towers @IHSTowers and Amazon Web Services (AWS) @awscloud, welcoming 30 selected participants to begin their journey in cloud computing.
In the day, I drive economic transformation by building scalable business structures and regional innovation ecosystems and I sidequest by advocating for good governance and a better quality of life for the everyday person.
Abibakr As-Siddiq Philanthropic Home Completes 20 Solar-Powered Boreholes in Kano, Nasarawa, Benue, Oyo
Abibakr As-Siddiq Philanthropic Home (ASPH) is proud to announce the successful completion and commissioning of 20 medium-depth solar-powered boreholes under Project OP-641, implemented with the generous support of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief).
The project was executed across Nasarawa, Kano, Benue, and Oyo States, delivering sustainable access to safe and clean drinking water to underserved and vulnerable communities.
The completed boreholes are located in the following communities:
• Kano State: Magadawa Kudu (Mariri), Ladanai, Tudun Makera, Gadan, and Tudun Fulani.
• Oyo State: Igbeti, Igboho, Iseyin, Kishi, and Sepeteri.
• Benue State: Abua Village (Tarka LGA), Daudu Village (Guma LGA), Mechanic Village (Makurdi LGA), Ikpayongo Village (Gwer East LGA), and Gbende Village (Gwer West LGA).
• Nasarawa State: Angwan Jama’a (Keffi LGA), Layin Sarki (Toto LGA), Angwan Sadi (Kokona LGA), Angwan Bai (Nasarawa LGA), and Jijipe Community.
Each borehole has been equipped with a solar-powered pumping system, elevated water storage facilities, and multiple water collection points, ensuring a reliable and environmentally sustainable supply of clean water throughout the year. The facilities are expected to serve thousands of beneficiaries by improving access to potable water for households, schools, healthcare facilities, and surrounding communities.
The successful completion of Project OP-641 marks another significant milestone in ASPH’s mission to improve the quality of life of vulnerable populations through sustainable humanitarian and development interventions. By expanding access to clean water, the project will help reduce the prevalence of waterborne diseases, improve hygiene and sanitation practices, decrease the time spent by women and children fetching water, and support healthier and more resilient communities.
Commenting on the completion of the project, the President of Abibakr As-Siddiq Philanthropic Home expressed sincere appreciation to the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) for its continued partnership and commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable people across Nigeria.
“Access to safe drinking water is a fundamental human necessity and a cornerstone of sustainable development. Through our valued partnership with KSrelief, we have successfully delivered twenty solar-powered boreholes that will provide lasting benefits to communities across four Nigerian states. We remain committed to implementing impactful humanitarian programmes that promote dignity, health, and sustainable development.”
ASPH also commended the invaluable support of state and local government authorities, traditional rulers, community leaders, technical teams, and beneficiary communities whose cooperation contributed significantly to the successful implementation of the project.
Following completion, all facilities have been tested, commissioned, and formally handed over to their respective beneficiary communities. Community Water Management Committees have also been established to oversee the operation, protection, and routine maintenance of the facilities, ensuring their long-term sustainability.
Abibakr As-Siddiq Philanthropic Home remains committed to transparency, accountability, and excellence in the implementation of humanitarian and development programmes. The organization looks forward to strengthening its partnership with KSrelief and other development partners in delivering more life-changing interventions across Nigeria.

A powerful women’s session at the Ilorin Innovation Hub with the British Deputy High Commissioner, Mrs Gill Lever OBE @gillleverobe, convening leaders across government, academia, and the innovation ecosystem. @UKinNigeria
🇺🇸 🤝🏾 🇳🇬 Last month marked a defining milestone for the Ilorin Innovation Hub. We signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding with the U.S. Embassy Abuja @usinnigeria, becoming the Embassy’s first public-private partnership outside its American Spaces Network in Nigeria. Speaking at the signing, the U.S. Embassy observed that American companies are already seeking opportunities in Kwara to compete and collaborate in its growing technology sector. That global interest is real, and it points to why this partnership matters. But the work ahead is also deeply local. There are so many talented young people across Kwara State who, until now, simply did not have access to opportunity. This three-year collaboration, spanning artificial intelligence, STEM education, business English, and professional development, is built to reach them. We are proud to anchor this partnership in Ilorin and grateful to the U.S. Mission Nigeria and the Public Diplomacy Counselor for the trust placed in IIH. The work begins now.
