Rest in peace Aziz, one of my first ever friends in Smash since we met at a Brawl tournament in 2009. He farmed me with Snake and set me on the first crazy losers run of my life. I’ll never forget that day. Even though he was like my little brother by age, I always looked up to him and his incredible mind for everything he touched. Aziz is one of the greatest gamers to have ever lived, with a work ethic that matched his incredible natural talent.
We shared so many memories together since then. Playing Marvel 3 and Pokemon TCG while I was in college, him and Cactuar laughing their asses off at me while I was blackout drunk on his balcony, going to Pokemon Worlds together in 2014, and helping each other through the darkest times in our lives. The attached picture is us and our friend Christian at Nintendo World on the night Smash 4 launched. He didn’t give a fuck about the game but we stayed up all night playing Falcon dittos before he entered his one and only bracket for that game the following weekend. The only thing he cared about was opening up the controller that came in the bundle to see if it was viable for Melee…truly a man with a one-track mind.
I wish I could’ve done more for him. I was the last person to see him before his suicide attempt last year and tried my best to set him on the right path. It will always haunt me that I couldn’t do enough to talk him off the ledge. When I visited him in the hospital afterward, he was grateful to be alive and seemed to be on the right path. We spent hours and hours over the last few years going back and forth on how to facilitate his reentry to Smash and improve his life outside of it to become successful and happy. Melee was his everything, and anyone who knew him would also know that he’d never feel truly complete without it. While he definitely had to work on himself, he deserved better from the community he put so much of his life into.
My sadness and anger are aimed in a million different directions right now and this has been a horrible emotional experience for so many people. Instead of pointing fingers or hopping on soapboxes, please take the time to honor and admire his incredible contributions to the last 20 years of Melee. I don’t want to speak for him, but I can only imagine that all he’d want is for the game to live on forever.
I love you man, I hope you’re at peace. I’ll be missing you for the rest of my life and wishing I knew the right thing to say. There will never be another one like Hax Fucking Money.
Rest in peace, Hax$
A true inspiration for many fox and falcon players globally, an innovator, and a man truly passionate about his craft
Very sad. Wish he had more time.
Forgiveness and grace is important for those willing to ask for it and change 💔😞
Really important! Battle of BC 7 will be back and bigger than ever in 2025, but our dates are shifting from what we previously mentioned. The event will be taking place March 28th to 30th, the same weekend as last year. See you then, get your passports ready!

With Campus Clash happening tomorrow I strongly encourage everyone to be prepared for the heat. Please wear deodorant and don’t be that person that gives the venue an unpleasant odour. If you’re paranoid like me then bring your deodorant with you! 😎
