1E have had a fantastic day on their trip to Aston Hall. We completed some Great Fire Of London arts and crafts before having a tour around Aston Hall. Some of us got to dress up in clothes that would have been worn in the past.

Year 1 have had such a wonderful day designing and painting their memory jars! They have had a fantastic time making them and the children are looking forward to sharing their memories with their family.

Today Year 1 are making their memory jars! They started by designing how they would decorate them and then they chose their favourite. They will then paint them to match their designs before filling them with some favourite memories from Year 1! 🤗

Today we have been doing some art. We discussed how trees change across the seasons and then created some art to represent this. We used tissue paper, card and glitter. #artanddesign 👩🏻‍🎨👨🏼‍🎨

This week Year 1 are going to be meteorologists and measure the daily rainfall. They have worked in groups this morning to create a rain gauge and we are going to check these every morning and record the results. 🌧💦👨🏼‍🔬👩🏼‍🔬

Year 1 had a fantastic time on their trip to the Black Country Living Museum. The children were praised for their questioning skills and their level of engagement. We were able to make lots of comparisons between life now and then.

1E were very excited to go to their Valentines disco this afternoon! They were all dressed in their best outfits and they even had a fashion show to share their lovely outfits. They were excited to have a boogie with some sweets ❤️ #ValentinesDay

Year 1 are learning all about the explorer Robert Falcon Scott who set out to be the first to explore the Antarctic but was beat to it by the Norwegians. We have written a diary entry to say how he would have felt on the journey back home. #history #explorers

To celebrate the Chinese New Year we are creating a dragon using 2-D shapes. We looked at the properties of shapes before talking about why each shape was appropriate to make the dragon. We are cutting the shapes carefully. #YearOfThePig 🐲🐖

Year 1 have learnt all about the artist Jackson Pollock this afternoon. We discussed his technique of drip painting and the colours that he uses. The children mixed bright colours with dark colours to create the desired effect. #gettingcreative 🎨
