Today year to flew to Mexico!
We went to the airport and watched a safety demonstration aboard our flight. Throughout the day, we ate Mexican food, learnt Mexican dances and finally chilled by the pool with an ice lolly.
We all had lots of fun!

Year 2 had a wonderful trip to The World of Glass yesterday. We learnt lots about the history of glass making in St. Helens and how they blow glass to make beautiful pieces of art.

2RD have been trying out and evaluating their moving vehicles that they made in DT.

Year 2 have been making moving vehicles in DT. This week we have been making the wheels and axles for our vehicles. We had to carefully saw the axles to the correct size.

Year 2 have been out in the community of Blackbrook doing a litter pick as part of our @CAFODSchools Live Simply award.

Year 2 have been catching people by surprise and doing the 'Palm Oil Conga' flash mob around school to raise awareness of sustainable palm oil. 🎶'Be sustainable, read the label and do the palm oil conga' 🎶

After some research, we found out about sustainable palm oil where the land is shared between the natural habitat and farmed for palm oil. We created a sustainable palm oil plantation where there is still some habitat left for the hornbills.

Year 2 have been doing a special project with @chesterzoo this week. We found out all about the endangered hornbill and built a lovely forest habitat for our class hornbills.

The next day, something dreadful had happened to the hornbill's habitat - There had been deforestation for a palm oil plantation. We found out all about what this means and realised deforestation for palm oil is a huge problem for hornbills.

Year 2 have had a wonderful morning doing the Easter bonnet parade, Easter Stay and Pray and Easter egg hunt.

Year 2 have been learning about forgiveness and reconciliation in RE lessons. We looked at some art work of reconciliation and peace building. We thought about what it means to us and made our own sculptures to represent this.
