Rwanda visit
Today woke up with a plan to achieve what Great Lakes safaris sent me here to do within the first 4hrs. I achieved in 5hrs.
I then visited some big boys here in Rwanda for a chat like the CEO of primate safaris who employees many people and supports GREAT LAKES COLLECTION TOO.
Carol namatovu who owns Terra eco tours also took me for lunch in a local restaurant called freedom restaurant here in Kigali with Ugandan food.
It’s Amazing how many people I met who follow me, I can’t hide .
Kaynela Farms / Kayunga
After 6kms of warm up run in the morning, then you then go for a proper breakfast hunt and you find your food in the Matooke plantation.
Served in very traditional way. This was my breakfast.
Crop production is highly profitable!
*All you need to do is to ensure a good breed selection and practice excellent field agronomic practices.

Kaynela farms - Kayunga
These guys have fish ponds and there so much to learn about the fish world at Kaynela farms.
They put sand at the bottom for the breeding type.
The male fish comes to the sand in a pond and makes a hole, the female comes lays eggs, then the male comes to fertilize the eggs.
Then the female comes and swallows them and hardly eats after that.
Even the male fish knows it has to prepare a hole( home) for where the female will lay eggs before he fertilizes them.
Preparation is critical

Zion Wekesa and I have been hanging around home and about town only 2 of us, the rest of family was out of the country.
Such times are very good for son dad bonding, I have attended all his basketball games which have been many in the last 2 weeks.
He plays for his school teams both under 16 and under 20yrs team and been making sure am home daily at 3pm, finish my work at home anyways.
The mentorship has shifted full gear from the first born to the last born like you can see.
How many of you have heard about Kaynela farms? About 30kms from Kayunga?
Fantastic place, massive swimming pool, massive rooms, quads for ridding around the farm, bicycles, ostriches, 90% of what you eat is from the farm it’s self.
Just so good seeing Ugandans being very innovative. Yes, we must complain about our politics but we must also do things, not watching premier league and dancing alone.
Super place for family
What Every Farmer Must Know about Local Chicken( Beginners)
Local Chicken i would simply call "Village Chicken" are chicken reared for either the purpose of egg production, meat production, or even feathers in some situations.
These chickens are different from the commercial breeds of chickens that are reared in industrialized poultry farms. Below are some of the production facts;
📌. A local rooster weighs about 1.4-2 kg at maturity while a local hen weighs 1.2-1.5 kg at the point of lay.
📌. At 22-26 weeks of age, village or local chickens are sexually mature to start mating and producing eggs. A local broody hen could lay up to 72 eggs in a year while a local non-broody hen could lay up to 102 eggs in a year.
📌. A free-range hen will lay the first eggs at the age of 22-28 weeks and lay 3-4 clutches of 10-15 eggs a year.
So, how can you identify a local chicken? Here are a few features of a local chicken;
. They are usually found in black, brown, and dark red colors
. Their eye color is dark brown, light brown, and dark red. They are sharp and always alert.
Local chickens have smooth beaks and claws.
.Bright red comb and wattle.
1.3K
. They are usually very small in size.
. They can hatch their eggs and brood their chicks.
. They are poor egg producers, as they lay just 40-50 eggs in a year.
.They can survive on a diet that consists mainly of locally available food items.
They also lay eggs that are small in size but are rich in nutrients.
They have higher disease resistance.

Target Markets / accommodations
Am for example am not a target market for the lodges where I am the chief servant.
When I travel, I will look for usd 80 for a room or even look for Airbnb even cheaper.
USD 1500 a night like for Mwamba lodge Tarangire you see below, while I can charge that, I won’t pay same prices.
Why? While investing people have target market in their mind and that will determine where you look for land, interior Desginer, builder, management etc.
But when I visit Dubai for example, I don’t go around asking why some hotels charge usd 5000 a night. No I don’t.
If I want to learn, I visit and have a meal, talk to management etc or even ask to see the rooms.
Countries need to cater for all types of clients, so far uganda caters for only low end clientele and miss out on those who can spend more.
We need rooms for usd 10k a night to usd 100k even. Why not?
Less than 5% of all rooms available in uganda cost more than usd 80 a night and you get what you pay for.
Like kasese, from ushs 20k to usd 2400 you can get but 90% are usd 100 and less
WEATHER / 2 planting seasons
Uganda averagely has the best weather probably in the world, annual averages are between 20 to 27 degrees centigrade.
I don’t think any of us reading this today woke up and checked what the weather will be like today. Thats the reason it doesn’t make sense to us.
The world earned usd 10.9 trillions from tourism in last financial year and close to 36% of that was influenced by good weather.
Right now is the best time for marketing to those countries troubled by tough weather, most marketing fairs are around the cold times.
During their fair weather everyone is taking advantage to enjoy it or doing agriculture since they have only one planting season.
2 planting seasons!
On Sunday I had lunch with a Canadian couple visiting uganda for the first time and they were so happy eating fresh food throughout their time here.
The Bible says my people perish because of lack of knowledge( some people not all think Wekesa is stupid for mentioning 2 planting seasons)
The Canadians for example start planting in May and by September the season is done and the soils became idle( that’s the time for better chances of fresh food)
Some people think that when I mention tourism, am talking about national parks, animals, my bu few lodge only, needA and am against Agric, manufacturing, ICT etc nope.
Am simply saying import purchasing higher power for manufactured goods, agriculture products plus they will pay for our attractions. Instead of exporting the coffee, let them come and consume coffee from here.
When we export coffee in raw form, we export the value chain where most money is money reason Germany which doesn’t grow coffee makes more money than a coffee growing country like uganda and Ethopia combined.
The above theory applies to all the other agriculture products we export as a country. When those imported consumers( tourists), there are no conditions( standards manenos) that block our progress.
2 planting seasons Oyee!
