John Wooden Dad’s advice:
“Johnny, don’t try to be better than somebody else, but never cease trying to be the best you can be. You have control over that. The other you don’t.”
🧵A few couple of video tips for coaches.
1) One of the primary benefits of showing players video is to develop their eyes- that is we want them to see things they might not otherwise have noticed & cause them to use those cues to predict what’s going to happen.
Great read from @rustindodd on Dusty May working w/ teaching expert
He has "created a culture that is 1 part Ted Lasso, 1 part HS teacher: always curious, never judgmental
But it also represents a larger idea: the benefits of coaching like a teacher."

HANDLE THE BALL AGAINST PRESSURE
This clip is a masterclass in handling the ball against pressure. Most players think that the more moves they make, the better BallHandler they are.
In reality, a players ability to Start-Go-Stop is what makes them productive.
Do you have a starting move that can get you downhill. On that ‘go’ can you be in control under pressure. Then, do you have the ability to stop to create separation, and be comfortable in a face up so that you can make a decision and play.

On the benefits of playing off of 2 feet 👟👟
• Contact
• Doesn’t fall to the floor
• Can use more fakes
This is a habit taught at all of our PGC Basketball courses!!
There’s a handful of coaches that I will watch any interview/press conference I can find of them. Tony Bennett was one of them.
He was a brilliant teacher, role model, and leader. Always character first, results second.
The game will miss him🧡
@tonywmiller@JohnCarrier42 1. How do they play random after their organized action and how they teach it.
2. What are their transition offensive rules.
3. How do they teach offensive perimeter footwork against pressure.
Thanks!
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders & absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely & with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense.
