@JorgeHe91884181@lewis02958@GlavnyKnstruktr 1544 (XV):
'All peoples have the right to self-determination; by virtue of that right they freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development.'
@JorgeHe91884181@lewis02958@GlavnyKnstruktr So you acknowledge that it supports the right to self-determination? And, therefore, that the decision of the Falkland Islanders living on the island in 2013 should be respected?
@JorgeHe91884181@lewis02958@GlavnyKnstruktr The UN charter on decolonisation also references the utmost importance of population self-determination, which again, de facto supports the British claim.
@JorgeHe91884181@lewis02958@GlavnyKnstruktr No. That's a map of nations that have outright declared recognition.
It excludes several states (Canada, Australia) that stated support for self-determination, which de facto supports the 2013 referendum result that affirmed British sovereignty.
@Tomo56691@Nickesanderson@UKDefJournal The Brits put their money in other areas. For example, they're buying 13 frigates, compared to eight in the Netherlands, and five in Norway. They operate six destroyers, compared to 0 in Norway or the Netherlands. They're buying 12 subs, compared to 6 in Norway and the Dutch 3.
@Northern_Goblin@Mathewjwhite@PolitlcsUK As for a source, several news outlets cover deployments, especially @NavyLookout. It's also worth following @TBrit90, as he reposts the various Faslane locals who take the photos of incoming and outgoing boats.
@Northern_Goblin@Mathewjwhite@PolitlcsUK The channel out of Faslane is narrow enough that in the modern day, the submarines leaving the base transit on the surface, where they can be monitored going in and out. This means, we always know which ones are at sea.
Same for Devonport, because it's a populated area.
@Northern_Goblin@Mathewjwhite@PolitlcsUK Anson came back just under two months ago. She's in Devonport, alongside Audacious and Astute. You can see these in person, and from satellite.
Artful and Ambush are in Faslane, both under maintenance.
Similarly, three of the V-boats are in Faslane.
@Northern_Goblin@Mathewjwhite@PolitlcsUK All of the Astutes are under refit, and there's just one Vanguard on patrol, not three. The others are under refit as well.
You're right about the Typhoons, though. Apparently, they were refit for AMRAAM all the way back in the 2010s.
@Northern_Goblin@Mathewjwhite@PolitlcsUK Couple of issues with that.
The Typhoons on the islands are old Tranche 1 birds, meaning they don't have Meteor, and I'm actually unsure if they even have AMRAAM capability.
There definitely is not an Astute loitering around the South Atlantic right now.
@tgdesrosier@PatriotSubVet Yeah, this isn't correct. The UK has four major shipbuilding sites, all of which are currently operational. These are Govan, Rosyth, Belfast and Barrow. Smaller ones such as Appledore also exist.
If the government funds procurement, the ships will be built.
@Angad_Red@theoldzealand Kane told the BBC post-match that Tuchel had said to push for another goal.
Presumably, he saw the defending going on just before the hydration break and realised it wasn't going to be possible, and therefore opted to defend.
