Sammy Gyamfi just finished his slot on the Government Accountability Series and I’m still waiting for the actual accountability.

From the previous editions of this series, the expectation was clear: public officers come, lay out the facts, numbers, processes, and answer hard questions about their stewardship. Today felt different. A good portion of the time was spent attacking, name-calling, and personalising the issue around the Minority Leader and others instead of staying tightly on the books, the Auditor-General’s findings, the IMF references, and the actual operations of GoldBod.

If the claim is that critics are deliberately misrepresenting the Auditor-General’s report and conflating GoldBod’s books with BoG’s Domestic Gold Purchase Programme losses, then the strongest response is still the documents, the pages, the figures, and calm, clinical rebuttal. Not “you’re bitter,” not “joke of a Minority Leader,” not “I’ll have onerous bail terms in your brain.”

Accountability is not the same as political counter-punching. One strengthens institutions and public trust. The other just keeps the cycle of noise going.
Ghanaians watching these series deserve the substance first. The insults can stay on the campaign trail.
