The Khayalethu Project Social Worker, Thobeka Majola said she started 2020 with young men who spoke in one voice, saying enough is enough with drugs and substance abuse. Majola said she gets excited over young people who take control over their lives.
YFC/KZN staff commemorated the 16 Days of Activism to No Violence Against Children and Women last month in support of the worldwide campaign that is aimed at opposing violence acts against women and children and to raise awareness of the negative impact of violence and abuse.
Khayalethu community project beneficiaries from Imbali 14 who were part of the PMCB training and skills development program, successfully completed a four week course recently on plumbing, bricklaying, plastering and comprehensive carpentry.
THE BRIDGE PROJECT MEET THE US AMBASSADOR
A project of Youth For Christ/ KwaZulu- Natal, The Bridge that is based in Durban was among those who were showcasing their work during the recent visit of the United States Ambassador, Lana Marks.
Pupils from Ethekwini West and North High schools were excited when they received textbooks for subjects such as Mathematics, Geometry, History, Computer Science and novels in recent months from The Bridge Project.
Khayalethu project hosted a health and wellness awareness campaign recently. The campaign that was aimed at encouraging and promoting healthy lifestyles among children, youth and adults was held at the Community Drop-in Centre in Raisethorpe.

Imbali 14 youth, UKZN students and YFC/KZN Khayalethu project gathered for a prayer meeting and motivational talk at Imbali 14 community hall on the 24th of October 2019. The meeting was aimed at motivating, encouraging and praying for all those who are writing final exams.
Various NGO’s and Mountain Rise Police Station visited Copesville Primary school recently during a Gender-Based Violence and Substance Abuse Campaign that was championed by Khayalethu, a project of Youth for Christ/ KZN.
Khayalethu Project in partnership with UKZN students and Imbali 14 Community empowers grade 11 and 12 pupils through extra lessons and tutorials in subjects such as Maths, Maths Literacy, Life Science, Accounting, Physical Science, Business Studies and English.
Bridge, a project of YFC/KZN camped out with all their staff to reflect on the previous financial year and to discuss and plan for the upcoming financial year. The camp took place at Vuleka Centre in Bothas Hill on the 9th – 11th of October 2019.
Khayalethu Outreach Project beneficiaries were reunified with their families recently. This followed after the project hosted a retreat camp for beneficiaries who are homeless children and youth living in the streets and abandoned buildings in the CBD, Northdale and Raisethorpe.
Youth for Christ KwaZulu was announced as the winner of “The Best Youth Organisation” category during the KwaZulu Natal Young Achievers Award (KZNYAA) 2019 that was held recently at Durban ICC.
Youth for Christ/KwaZulu- Natal Durban projects ended Women’s Month in style when they were dressed up in black, heels and doeks. Tennyson House, The Bridge and Change Agents staff had their Women’s month celebration on the 30th August 2019 at Tennyson house residential care.
Youth For Christ/ KwaZulu- Natal joined young women from various Pietermaritzburg high schools, University of KwaZulu- Natal and Durban University of Technology. The young women gathered at Umsunduzi Museum during the Brand South Africa Young Women’s Month Dialogue.
PROBLEM-SOLVING SUPERHEROES
Internship project beneficiaries went camping at L’abri in Pietermaritzburg from the 13th to 16th of August 2019.
The camp unfolded with the interns participating in various activities, such as fashion, mind games, fashion show and group discussions.
The girls at Tennyson House residential care and aftercare project celebrated Women’s Day in style on the 10th of August 2019. The celebration that was themed “The beauty of a women” was held at Inanda Community Drop-In- Centre in Durban.
