Snaps character in Raising Kanan closely aligns with the real life persona of Queens legend Charles “Chaz” Williams. Chaz was a bank robber in the 70s, as Snaps and Pops referenced themselves to be in the old days during the series. Chaz was very stoic in his dealings in the streets, and was as a mediator in hostile situations amongst dealers. He was a connector also that commanded respect.
When Chaz went legit he became a music executive, founding Black Hand Entertainment, and assisted with managing 50 Cent in the early 2000s. Chaz passed away from Cancer in 2019.
