ICE set off an international incident in Minneapolis today because agents tried to go into the Consulate of Ecuador without permission, and then yelled at their staff for trying to keep them out.

Note that there is a huge “consulate of Ecuador” sign over the door.

It’s interesting to see this from a professional photojournalist’s perspective, where there is no agenda but to capture events as they unfold.

The more I see these interactions the more I believe that this is a campaign to deliberately inflame tensions. The ICE officers are persistently provocative and clearly demonstrate a lack of training.

Tactics are those you would expect from a street gang seeking to terrify a neighbourhood. Nobody is safe around them because they are enjoying being violent towards people, in particular women and those they see as easy targets for them to humiliate.

This is systemic violence and cruelty. I saw a clip yesterday where tear gas was discharged in the home of their target in which young children were present. One child had to resuscitated by EMTs as a result.

These are dangerous reckless individuals able to hide behind masks a badge and now apparent immunity to victimise people and ask questions later. There is no doubt in my mind that Trump is going to war with blue states literally and the public are acceptable collateral damage in a violent political fight.
