High-ranking officials from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey are meeting Iranian representatives in Tehran in an effort to de-escalate tensions and prevent the Mecca Pact countries from being drawn into a direct conflict with Iran.

Turkey and Pakistan are already helping Saudi Arabia defend against Houthi drones and missiles. This raises a real risk that they could be pulled into a wider conflict with Iran, as the Houthis are widely seen as acting only with Tehran’s approval.
