🇮🇹 Venice is putting a price on overtourism. Day-trippers visiting the city on selected peak days now pay an entry fee of €5 if they book at least four days in advance - or €10 for later bookings. Overnight visitors are exempt because they already pay the local tourist tax. The system aims to reduce overcrowding while helping preserve one of the world's most fragile historic cities.

Venice has become the symbol of Europe's fight against overtourism. What started as an experiment is now a permanent policy, and other popular destinations are watching closely. If the model proves successful, entry fees for tourists could soon become common across Europe's busiest cities.
