Parents know their children best. Our government believes parents are the primary protectors of their children and will always have the right to be informed about their children's healthcare.
We will ensure our laws always support parents and legal guardians while protecting the best interests, health, and well-being of children and youth across Newfoundland and Labrador.
Over the last 48 hours, it has become clear that there is significant confusion and concern regarding parental access to their children’s medical records following the rollout of the new healthcare information system (CorCare).
I want to be categorical: Parents are the primary protectors of their children. Our government believes that parents or guardians should always have the right to access their children’s healthcare information.
While the current laws and policies have been in existence for decades, the implementation of the new digital health platform has exposed a fundamental misalignment between existing statutes and the expectations of families in this province. We did not create this policy, but we are going to fix it.
The Minister of Health and Community Services recognizes that the current policy being implemented through CorCare and MyChart may create barriers for parents seeking the information they need to protect and care for their children. Digitization now shines a spotlight on this policy. Our government will immediately review the Personal Health Information Act and other relevant legislation. Following consultations, we will introduce legislative changes this fall to ensure that parental access to their children’s medical records is protected in Newfoundland and Labrador.
We recognize there are complex cases involving child safety, and our legal system already has robust protections in place for those specific instances. However, we can’t allow a policy of 'secrecy by default' to stand between parents and the health of their children.
We have heard clearly from families across the province, and we will ensure the law supports parents and guardians while protecting the best interests of children and youth.
They wrote us off. The polls and pundits had already decided the outcome of the election last fall.
But the people of Newfoundland and Labrador had the final say.
What followed was a true comeback story built on hard work, determination, and a belief in something better for all of us.
At the 2026 Energy NL Conference, we announced a call for exploration bids on 16 offshore parcels off Newfoundland and Labrador’s east coast, alongside a $90 million Offshore Exploration Fund designed to attract new investment and support offshore oil and gas development.
The next Bay du Nord is out there, and our province is going to be part of it.
The results are in.
John Hogan and the Opposition Liberals voted against our new PC Budget.
The same Party that voted to give themselves secret bonuses this time last year have now voted against measures aimed at delivering better health care, lower taxes, and safer communities.
The Liberals had a choice, and once again they chose themselves over the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.
We are thrilled to announce The Honourable Tony Wakeham, Premier of NL, as the Energy NL Conference & Exhibition Opening Keynote.

I will always stand up for Newfoundland and Labrador and put the people of this province first because our resources should always benefit the people who call our province home.
Today, we recognize the first responders across Newfoundland and Labrador who step forward when it matters most.
We are deeply grateful for their commitment and the essential role they play every day. Thank you!
Yesterday, we released our new government’s first budget.
It is a plan built for this moment in time, delivering on our commitments for this beautiful place we all call home.
Opportunity for all of us.
BREAKING: Today, our PC government tabled Budget 2026: Opportunity for All of Us.
We are continuing to invest in Newfoundlanders and Labradorians with no new taxes and continued cost of living relief, while planning for the future with better health care and safer communities.
With all five water bombers now back in service, more wildland firefighters being hired and trained, enhanced support for volunteer fire departments, and community wildfire resilience planning underway, we are taking action to keep people safe this fire season.
Thank you to everyone working on the front lines and behind the scenes to protect our province. Together, we are building safer communities for all of us.
With test flights already underway, Newfoundland and Labrador’s 5th water bomber will be ready for this year’s wildfire season.
After years of being sidelined by the former Liberal government, this aircraft is finally set to return to service and protect our communities.
Real results and safer communities for all of us.
Less than 5 hours left to vote on making the gas tax cut permanent.
MHA Sarah Stoodley just spoke about why we need lower gas prices. Now she should ask her colleagues why they are delaying this crucial vote.
It is time to stop standing in the way of lower taxes for all of us.
A century ago, women in Newfoundland and Labrador secured the right to vote and hold public office. Today, that legacy lives on through the 100th Anniversary of Women Achieving the Right to Vote and Hold Public Office Scholarship Program.
We’re proud to announce 100 scholarships, valued at $1,000 each, awarded to outstanding young women in grades 10 to 12 from communities across our province. These students are already making a difference, and this investment helps them go even further.
Congratulations to all recipients. The future of Newfoundland and Labrador is in strong hands.
Today, we remember the 17 lives lost in the Cougar Helicopters Flight 491 crash on March 12, 2009.
We honour the memory of those who were lost and keep their families and loved ones in our thoughts. Their legacy will never be forgotten.
Today, I was proud to announce that @LelaEvansNL has been sworn in as Minister of Women and Gender Equality, in addition to her existing responsibilities serving the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Our government is taking action to ensure responsibilities are aligned to deliver strong, coordinated supports for the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. Strengthening connections between Women and Gender Equality and frontline services will help ensure people can access the supports they need, when they need them, while advancing meaningful progress on issues like Gender-Based Violence.
Our government followed through on its commitment to withdraw support for the proposed South Coast National Marine Conservation Area.
Protecting the environment cannot come at the expense of the aquaculture, fishing, and mining sectors, the Newfoundlanders and Labradorians who work in these industries, or the viability of the communities that rely on them.
Promise made. Promise kept.
We have the power - Quebec has the need.
Our government's priority is making sure the people of Newfoundland and Labrador are the primary beneficiaries of our energy, our resources, for our future.
