For Dr. Frank Weinberg, lung cancer is both professional and personal. As a thoracic oncologist and lung cancer researcher at UI Health and University of Illinois Chicago Cancer Center, he has the privilege of caring for patients while working in the lab to better understand and treat this disease. But his commitment also comes from his own family, having lost both his aunt and grandmother to lung cancer.
“I am proud to support LUNGevity Foundation’s incredible work funding research, advocacy, and patient support—and am especially excited that this fundraiser involves comedy, because after years of talking about cancer, grant deadlines, and marathon training with Team LUNGevity, I firmly believe laughter should be considered evidence-based medicine.”
Early bird tickets are on sale now for Laughs for LUNGevity. https://t.co/BPTvlnUf0g It is sure to be a night of fun in Chicago!
“It’s a tremendous honor to be part of such a historic and prestigious organization. @the_asci has long been home to physician-scientists who have fundamentally changed the way we understand and treat disease, and I’m deeply grateful to join their ranks,” said Seth M. Pollack, MD (@immunosarc), who is also a co-leader of the #CancerImmunology and #Immunotherapy Initiative at @LurieCancer.

#WhenSheStandsUp, she shares her story to spread awareness about early detection. 🙌 Catherine Thoma is a breast cancer survivor who discovered a lump and immediately scheduled an appointment with her doctor: "My story would be very different if I hadn't found the cancer early, and I am lucky I found it. I don't want people to just be lucky; I want people to be educated and aware.”
