This #WorldHealthDay2025, we celebrate Healthy Beginnings & Hopeful Futures — for the families we serve and the healthcare workers who care for them.
In a sector where the majority of our workforce are women, it's crucial we create a good working environment that supports mothers.
A strong maternity policy is essential for encouraging women to continue their careers in healthcare — without compromising their health or family needs.
Compassionate, inclusive leave policies are a step towards a brighter future for all.
No mother should ever be forced to return to work while grieving or healing — it’s time for policies rooted in empathy, not inhumanity.

"The health system has been struggling with staff shortages, and workers have worked overtime to fill the gap. The new pay standards implemented in 2023 have compelled the health workers to provide services 40-60 hours extra per month without adequate compensation. The question was—how long would we have to work under these conditions? Would management or politicians accept the same treatment? At the very least, the government and management must uphold workers’ labour and human rights"

'lack of resources'
'staff shortages'
The real PAIN in healthcare delivery. Continued through administrations.
Affects patient care in ways not imagined.
Yet, the certain elites in the system benefit from the health system - through the procurement process.
In the form of 'cuts'
Healthcare financing transparency must improve.
WAGES must be paid FULL to health care workers.
NO CAPPING of Overtime- if workers are To PROVIDE service.
Hospitals and Healthcare institutions aren't run by inanimate structures - it is the Health care workers that matters

Workers of Royal Island Resort are deeply concerned as they have not paid their service charges for the past two months, which is clear violation of laws. We call Villa Group to fulfill their obligations by promptly paying all pending service charges without any delays @MoHEmv
"They make us work every single day of the week without a day off—and without overtime pay. When I complain, citing that the Employment Law prohibits this, they pretend to comply by giving an ‘off’ between a morning shift and the next afternoon shift.
This is not a real day off—barely just 24 hours of rest.
Is this what the Off day in the Employment Act is supposed to look like?"

"I rarely get a day off, and when I do, it’s usually just a night off. I have been working beyond official hours every single day for countless months now. But for all those extra hours, they refuse to pay me overtime!
Because of this relentless overwork, my entire back is in constant pain—I can’t get through the day without taking painkillers now. I’m barely in my 30s, yet I feel completely ruined."

"Bosses are blatantly discriminatory among employees. Those in their favored circle relax with them, sipping tea, free from any real job responsibilities.
Meanwhile, the rest of us are trapped in endless 24/7 duties without overtime pay. Even when we take Sick Leave or Family Responsibility Leave due to burnout, they make our lives a living hell.
This place is full of toxicity and injustice."

Decisive decisions are necessary to ensure that the economic situation be reversed. If the country is default - it loses its own right over public expenditure. The country is mandated to enter into loan restructuring with adherence to recommendations from International Financing Institutions (IFI)s. These recommendations push back the working class (aka. the middle class) further economically and socially - widening the inequality gap.
The 'irresponsible' public finance management over the successive governments - in the name of serving the 'citizens' culminated in this despair situation.
