Today, 15 patients walked out of theatre with renewed hope as the Afya Mashinani Programme commenced at the Kilifi County Referral Hospital.

Among those treated were seven children who underwent life-changing surgical procedures, six patients who received Hydrocele and Hernia surgeries, and two emergency cases that were successfully attended to by our healthcare professionals.

These results reflect the dedication of our medical personnel and the investments we have made in equipping our facilities to provide specialized treatment closer to home. No resident should have to travel long distances or endure unnecessary delays to access essential healthcare services.

As we continue with this week-long exercise, my administration remains committed to delivering accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare for all. The operationalization of four new theatres at the County Referral Hospital is already enhancing service delivery and improving patient outcomes across Kilifi.

We have transformed Kilifi County Hospital into a facility that upholds dignity, comfort, and quality care for our people.

Extensive renovations across the wards, kitchen, and administrative areas have given the hospital a cleaner, more modern environment, ensuring patients receive care in a setting that reflects respect and professionalism.

We are also constructing a state-of-the-art outpatient wing that will improve service delivery, reduce waiting times, and ensure residents access timely and efficient medical care. Once complete, the hospital is set to attain Level 5 status, marking a major step forward in our commitment to providing better, accessible, and quality healthcare services to the people of Kilifi.
