Therefore, as long as you're staying true to yourself (as the song suggests - hah!) and your self-expression, I'm sure you're good to go.
Good luck with your cover! You can do it! ❤️
If anyone is claiming to have found underlying political motives in you covering this song without this intention being there in the first place, this might be a certain focal distortion of the accuser themselves.
So, even if someone might not agree with your song choice, I think you don't need to worry too much about it. You will never be able to appease everyone and their worldviews.
First of all, I don't think the song has an inherently political meaning in the first place. Yes, it uses quite striking comparisons and metaphors, but the main point of the song still lies in you allowing yourself to stay true to who you are.

Hi there skye!
Thank you for reaching out to us, I can absolutely understand that covering a song touching on sensitive topics can be quite a nerve-wrecking idea, especially since other people's reactions can be rather unpredictable.
I hope you know that everyone here in Life Support is rooting for you no matter what you choose to pursue but don't let other people decide what you can and can't do, not even us! ☺️ Only you can decide that.
It's also important to consider the source of criticism when you do receive it. For example, my parents also criticised my own endeavors as a ytt. They laughed at my early recordings, asked why I wasted time and effort on anime videos, and so on.
What's most important about learning anything is keeping in mind that you will never know *everything*. No one can know everything. There will always be a way for everyone to improve.
It's natural to feel hurt when something we put so much effort in is criticized and it's natural to question whether those efforts are worth it. But ask yourself the question when you have a clear mind. As much as you can, don't put pressure on yourself to answer it right away.
My first bit of advice to you is to be kind to yourself, take a breath, balance out your negative experience with a small joy like watching a movie or eating your favorite food.
understandable to have moments when it feels like all you do is battle various anxieties. Will people like my work? Will they even understand it? How will they react to this thing that means *so much* to you?

Hey there, demotivated anon!
Thank you so much for coming here and opening up to us. Being vulnerable takes a lot of courage. That being said, self expression and art also takes a lot of boldness and it's totally
