It was quite an emotional day today. Today I meet with Tia Rutsa and her three sisters who have transformed the Heritage in Kohima @abumetha. (@Neiphiu_Rio they’ve done a marvellous job!) The Heritage is the second DC’s bungalow, in use between 1947-1978. Tia is the cousin of the much-missed late Lily Das, long time stalwart and trustee of the @KohimaEdTrust and the person who, along with Pfelie Kesiezie and Charles Chasie, first introduced me to the Naga people. Tia’s aunt was Aviu who, for people who’ve read my books, was the young Naga lady who was forced to escape into the hills when the Japanese arrived in 1944. Unashamedly, tears were shed. It’s isn’t often that people visit the @DurhamInfantry memorial to the men of 2DLI in #kohima, but we were able to do so today to pay respects to Major John Whitehead. It’s been beautifully looked after by @KohimaEdTrust @Sampan_Travel
