#Hyderabad man was seriously injured after being attacked with a knife by an unidentified assailant over a hate crime at a shopping mall in the United States.

Syed Sohail, a resident of Tolichowki in Hyderabad, was working at a kiosk inside Valley Fair Mall in West Valley City, Salt Lake County, Utah, when the attacked happened.

INDIAN MUSLIM MAN STABBED IN UTAH HATE ATTACK; SUSPECT SAID HE WANTED TO KILL MUSLIMS

A 37-year-old Indian national, Syed Sohail Uddin, was allegedly stabbed more than 15 times while working at a kiosk inside Valley Fair Mall in West Valley City, Utah.

Police say the suspect, 48-year-old Peter Michael Larsen, approached the victim, began a conversation, and then allegedly launched the knife attack.

According to court documents, the suspect admitted he targeted the victim because he was Muslim and told investigators he intended to kill him.

Video from the mall reportedly shows bystanders tackling the attacker, restraining him and taking away the knife before police arrived. The suspect was arrested at the scene.

The victim remains hospitalized with multiple stab wounds, while formal charges are yet to be filed, according to available court records.

The incident is being investigated as an alleged anti-Muslim hate crime.

@amjedmbt, president of Majlis Bachao Tahreek, has written to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, urging the Indian government to provide consular assistance, contact the victim, and facilitate emergency humanitarian visas for his family members.

The Consulate General of India in San Francisco has said it is deeply saddened by the incident, is in close contact with the victim's family and friends, and is coordinating with local authorities while extending all possible consular assistance.
