If you’re “out on the Yankees” then go. This isn’t the airport, you don’t have to announce your departure. Let those of us who enjoy baseball enjoy it in peace.
Oh right, this shit’s performative and Chris (and those like him) will be crying and bitching every day for forever.
@YankeesFiles almost like it’s a bad idea to put yourself in a bad negotiating position. rest assured, twitter users have great foresight and would make amazing gms for sure
The best way to take in media days like this is to heavily scrutinize every single word and form intensely critical conclusions about everyone’s tone of voice and general candor
@SDCCThrowaway Philosophically I agree that the Yankees should do everything they can to be on the cutting edge of analytics. I do not think we can know what they are or are not doing though
This is my favorite YankeesFiles criticism. There's this notion that we don't think anything the team does is wrong. Of course we do! They just aren't the things you want us to be mad about.
He's right about this, too. Yankees fans claim they want Billy Martin chewing out Reggie in the dugout on national tv, when in reality, that's a total disaster for a clubhouse.
Ok, and what do Fishman, Oppenheimer, and Afterman believe? During the time they've been there, the Yankees have won more than pretty much any other team.
Again, with respect to the Rays, they have like 2 great bang for your buck contracts (Martinez, Diaz) and then a bunch of guys who are cost controlled. Of course they get bang for their buck. The Yankees got great bang for the buck from Rice and Schlittler this year!
Imagine how good (and expensive) the Rays would be if they still had Glasnow, Snell, Arozarena, and Lowe! Was it good process to let those guys go? I wouldn't say so.
Honest question: Are you talking about anyone except Michael Fishman in your first tweet and can you tell me anything about his responsibilities or beliefs?
To the point about price: yes, the Yankees tend to have an expensive roster. Teams that don't are often in that situation because
a. They got a lot of good, young players by being bad, often for extended periods of time
b. They trade away their stars
Do you want the Yankees to do either of those things? I don't.
Hal came out and blamed the players for the team's failure in the playoffs. This is the exact thing people demanded Boone do all year. Why is it now bad when Hal does it?
@YankeesFiles I’m still laughing about this. Fans wanted accountability. The owne, of all people, goes out and blames players for underperforming. And now fans are upset?
@YankeesStats@JohnMattiace@OXUDL2@kc_dos_siete Assuming John's reply applies to both of our questions, he also thinks there's no world in which the 111-win Dodgers of 2022 could have won the World Series.
