@ZappyTao@_AzeemP@NzT716 He was asked to box late and he wanted to build a tire advantage to George, but i agree in the sense that Ferrari strategy should be under fire and not really either driver. Both fanbases have really blown this out of proportion
There’s so much odd misunderstanding here about this race concerning Ferrari. Set your driver preferences aside, just observe facts.
On the M LEC stint, Lewis was closing somewhere around 7 tenths a lap. Overtaking isn’t easy here.
Ferrari tell Leclerc to box opposite Russell. He stays out as instructed, the point of which is to build an offset.
They give a counterintuitive instruction that they want to box the next lap, which would mean if they’re really going to box and are racing each other, it’s not in his best interest to wave anyone by.
Charles asks for clarification. He gets no response. He then says “hello????”, to which they respond “we will come back to you.”
Nonsensically, they tell him to box WAY LATE on his lap, and he goes around for 1 more.
Lewis feels aggrieved because he can make a case that he loses around 1.5s in this process. Leclerc feels aggrieved because they’ve made him do what you cannot do if you’re boxing opposite someone, coming in a lap or two later and eliminating the aim of an offset and taking the worst time loss position.
But Lewis’ vocal complaints about them running him long? Utterly unfounded. The foresight to keep him out until an opportune VSC from Ocon transforms his race. It gains him 8-10s on Track from the cheaper stop relative to those who boxed earlier. More than overcoming any perceived losses by letting the two Ferraris race.
They also make the call to box Leclerc behind Lewis during that VSC, unnecessarily, in order to make sure to keep him behind Lewis and to separate them.
Two instances there where Ferrari benefitted Lewis with some decision making, and one moment where he feels aggrieved by losing maybe 1.5s that was WAAAAYYYYY more than made up for time-wise by the other two decisions.
I get that some people don’t want the pilots fighting on track, basically ever. That was not allowed in the Bottas era at Mercedes. So you can disagree that they allow that, even on alternate strats. If we were truly fighting for anything other than the two pilots against one another? Maybe you can make a case. But we’re clearly not.
So, acting like Ferrari somehow completely botched Lewis’ race and cost him an incredible possible result? Nonsense. You can argue they shouldn’t have let them race if you want, but their management of the Ocon VSC and intentionally choosing to artificially place Leclerc behind during that VSC was a transformative decision that brought Lewis forward to a spot he otherwise wouldn’t have been close to.
This is how it is.
New theory: Giancarlo Stanton is not actually hurt
They will continue to say he’s not coming back for the rest of the season. Then in the bottom of the 9th in game 1 of the World Series the undertaker theme song will start playing and Stanton will pinch hit and hit a walkoff HR.
Let’s be real, Hamilton had another Hungary fumble. Even on soft tyres, he couldn’t overtake the slower car ahead. George’s tyres were completely gone and he had zero grip.
Charles closed a gap of over 7s to Hamilton. By Hamilton’s own logic, he should have let Charles through so Charles could actually have a shot at overtaking George.
@HowfireTww@GazzettaFerrari Oh wait so why didn’t Lewis let Charles through? He had newer tires and was close enough though right? VSC and Ferrari shafted Charles, the best chance Ferrari had at podium was Charles on the hards before he pitted
@Ferrari_Power1@GazzettaFerrari If that’s the case then every driver should switch positions. Terrible excuse. If you’re on that much fresher tires, that much faster and allegedly that much better* then overtake him 🤷♂️
@Ferrari_Power1@GazzettaFerrari Team didn’t say to let him through. Only thing he did was refuse to pit cause which was the correct move. Problems obeying team orders is crazy especially since Ferrari heavily favored LH today when CL had the best chance of podium staying out and fighting GR on the hard tires
Hamilton fans are genuinely saying “costing Lewis a podium” when the man got a free pitstop and couldn’t even overtake Russel who was on 388282 old hards 😭😭😭
Imagine you're Charles Leclerc and throughout the race you pull of insane overtakes and you're genuinely on fire, all for your team to absolutely SCREW YOU OVER BECAUSE THEY CAN'T MAKE STRATEGIES
