Mohammed was 14 when he was shot by armed men. His mother carried him for 7 hours to safety in Chad. They've experienced unimaginable tragedy.

UNHCR and partners are supporting Mohammed, but he dreams of being a doctor.

In Chad, we need to make sure dreams can become reality.

After fleeing Sudan, Gambra found safety and a new start in Chad.

Trained at the Farchana Women's Center, she now owns a successful bakery, supports her 5 children and employs other fellow refugees.

This is the impact of investing in refugees: hope, stability and opportunity.

Adre, Chad is a border town of 40,000 that now hosts 230,000 new arrivals from Sudan in a sprawling informal settlement.

Refugees wait here to be relocated to sites with shelters and essential services, but more resources are urgently needed to respond to the growing numbers.

Today I met some of the 500 Sudanese refugees who arrive daily in the Chadian town of Adre.

61,000 have arrived in Chad since the beginning of the month.

223,000 since the beginning of the year.

700,000 since the start of the conflict.

A tragedy which a ceasefire could stop.

🚸Overcrowded classes
👩🏿‍🏫Less teachers
🚽Limited latrines
Urgent help is needed to prevent a lost generation.

Yesterday, @StatePRM Regional Refugee Coordinator & @usembassytz accompanied a voluntary repatriation convoy with 470 refugees from Nduta Camp🇹🇿 to Nyabitare Transit Centre 🇧🇮.

11 months later, the border town of Adre 🇹🇩 is again overwhelmed by more than 180,000 refugees, most with no belongings. And more refugees arrive daily. Chad RRRP is only funded at 6%! Not enough funds to help “sur place” nor to open new sites. A catastrophy at our doorsteps.
