CBN cutting the MPR to 23% is a major move, but Nigerians should watch what happens beyond the headline.

For ordinary Nigerians, the real question is whether loans, mortgages and other credit actually become cheaper.

For businesses, cheaper credit could support investment, expansion, jobs and production if banks pass the reduction through to customers.

For the naira, lower rates can affect capital flows and demand for the currency, so the CBN will need to balance growth with inflation and exchange-rate stability.

The announcement is only the first step. What matters now is whether Nigerians and businesses actually feel the benefit.

Oh, please. This is exactly the kind of sanctimonious nonsense that gets people angry.

Nobody is asking referees to give Real Madrid special treatment. We’re asking for consistency, transparency and accountability. But apparently the moment Madrid fans question a refereeing decision, you immediately drag out the tired “conspiracy theory” excuse and pretend the entire fanbase has lost its mind.

Real Madrid can play badly. Real Madrid can miss chances. Real Madrid can make tactical mistakes. AND referees can still make serious mistakes. Those facts can exist at the same time. Stop deliberately pretending they are mutually exclusive just because it suits your narrative.

And that “LaLiga is worth nothing without Real Madrid” argument? Nobody needs to insult other clubs to acknowledge Madrid’s enormous importance to the league’s global audience, history and commercial value. Acting offended by that reality doesn’t make it disappear.

What’s really exhausting is the hypocrisy: when another club complains about refereeing, it’s “concern for fairness.” When Real Madrid does it, suddenly it’s “victimhood,” “excuses” and “conspiracy.” Give me a break.

If you disagree with Madrid’s complaints, challenge the decisions with evidence. Don’t attack millions of supporters and then congratulate yourself for having “common sense.”
