The biggest reason Bubsy appeals to me is how relatable he is. I know what its like to have everyone against you and still choosing to remain resilient regardless

I am confident this is the lore reason as to why Bubsy is willing to buy stuff they stole from him.
He wants to financially support them and maintain what innocence they have.
The kids have gone through enough, they deserve to feel loved and supported *somehow*

In Bubsy 4-D its revealed that Bubsy's niblings, Terry and Terri, have been stealing his property and selling it back to him hence why his signature exclamation point shirt is an unlockable skin and not his default look. It's implied they've been doing this since Paws On Fire.

Another thing that makes me believe Terry and Terri come from a broken home is how they're almost always hanging out with Bubsy. What this could suggest is that whatever is happening with their family is so bad they have no choice but to seek refuge in their Uncle's home.
