I’m so excited to say that I’ve got a job offer with the research team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals!!
For anyone that knows me, academics and research in nursing are some of my biggest passions- so the excitement and nerves are an understatement!!
Been abit quiet on Twitter over the past week or so, because I’ve been on a solo trip to Italy 🇮🇹
Now to get back to it after enjoying beautiful scenes and delicious food!!

@RCNNRN As someone who works in general paeds, we get input from specialities (for example getting input from paeds cardiologists if needed). Apart from that we work closely with allied HCPS (so SALT, physios, dieticians), specialist nurses (asthma and diabetes)- just to name a few!
@WeNurses General advice here but set smaller goals which are easier to achieve instead of focusing on one big goal. Also set yourself regular deadlines #WeNurseAcademics

@RCNNRN It’s okay to be assertive. Some people won’t like the fact that but it’s nothing personal. Also sort out everyone’s break as soon as!
@RCNNRN To an extent yes, this does reflect on my own experience. I remember being at a point where the unit was so short staffed they had to relocate another staff member who (although more experienced) was not used to the unit. This made me the NIC.
The title ‘nurse’ could be a step closer to being protected in law amid major reforms to the way the profession is regulated.
Campaigners have long been calling for the title to be protected. What do you think?

@RCNNRN In an ideal world it’ll be when you feel comfortable. However in the current state, a lot of “junior” nurses are pushed into more senior roles.
I feel this tweet is even more relevant now given the current circumstances…
