Rohit Sharma winning the champions trophy without Bumrah and with Gambhir as coach tells you exactly why he's the greatest white ball captain India has ever had.
In the last twelve months, PM Modi has balanced Russia and Ukraine, got India-China relations back on track, signed an FTA with EU, refused to be swayed by Trump tariffs, initiated an array of domestic reforms, and bombed a nuclear neighbour while winning 2 key state elections.
@CANITINCHAWLA Agreed youth focus on investing. Most of the youths will not even be making gains in the market and over it even if they do very few would be making gains over 1.25 lakhs upto which there is no LTCG. Making the sample size really really small for the budget makers to consider.
ICAI has recommended (not announced or approved) a proposal in Budget 2026 that may allow married couples to file combined income tax returns.
Important:
This is only a recommendation as of now. No rule or notification has been issued.
If this idea is implemented, here's what it could mean in simple terms (based on current new tax regime slabs and illustrative calculations):
A couple earning a combined โน6 lakh would still pay zero tax
A โน8 lakh combined income could save around 10,000 annually
A โน10 lakh combined income could save roughly โน20,000
A 12 lakh combined income could see savings of about 30,000-35,000
Higher combined incomes could benefit even more, especially when one spouse earns significantly less
Why this matters:
Supports single-income & uneven-income households
Recognises family-level taxation
Aligns India with global tax practices
This could mean โน10,000-โน40,000+ tax savings for many middle-class married couples - if and only if the proposal is accepted.
For now, it's an idea on paper.
