How did the .de outage affect you, and what do you do to mitigate failures of critical infrastructure?

On 5 May, .de domains experienced a severe incident: a technical issue in the Domain Name System (DNS) at @denic_de's .de zone. Yatta Platform, Yatta Checkout, and our website were affected. Apologies to our customers and users. 🙏

The cause was faulty DNSSEC data, which meant validating resolvers rejected the answers. DENIC fixed it overnight. We're now strengthening resilience and added https://t.co/GgY8yjfLAG as a fallback so .de isn't our only entry point.
