Finally made the other account. Not super bothered, but it can't really hurt either.
Cross-referenced the list here and followed a bunch of people. Wasn't too horrible, which is perhaps the one benefit of a small follower/following list. o/
@CarcinogenSDA Shared a room with you and Nitrodon that year, I believe? Vividly remember being upset for the stupidest reason when the event was moved to Mike's basement. Seems really silly thinking about it now. It was much better there.
(Also, why do I remember THIS so clearly?)
Starting to wonder if I should play around with Dark Souls 3 speedruns at some point. I've developed a bad habit of starting gimmick playthroughs, but never finishing them.
Maybe if I go fast, I'd actually finish one before getting bored.
@muttskiSRL Dropped a couple more niche choices in here for God Hand and Jungle Strike. Would've dropped the Splatterhouse 3 intro in as well for the (still cool) Jennifer rotation part at the end, but almost the entire intro is a major flashing lights warning. :/
Playing more ads overall (?) to avoid inconveniencing people that don't want to open a stream and click Mute for 30 seconds is just something I can't wrap my head around.
I'd never make it in that world.
Thanks to a helpful YouTube comment, I've learned that my Thracia 776 pacifist run is technically invalid. I never knew that the Chapter 8 boss can move away from the gate tile once he mounts.
If I knew how to edit BizHawk input files, I could fix just that chapter.
Two weeks into the "subject my parents to whatever anime I've picked" experiment. No outright complaints so far.
We've gone through two episodes of Cowboy Bebop and one episode of Gundam 0080. Dad seems slightly displeased at Spike's incompetence, and the plot not starting yet.
Finished the post-credits stuff in Celeste. I never want to play this game again. On the bright side though, my intense dislike will make speedruns much more satisfying to watch.
I turned on Assist Mode permanently after Core, but here were my stats before all that. It's ugly...
Definitely realizing that my decision to purchase Celeste from the Steam sale based purely on "people seem to love this" was a really bad idea. I didn't enjoy Super Meat Boy, and history is repeating itself.
Assist Mode is great though. Used it once, and should've used it more.
Finished testing the SRW Z2-2 speedrun notes just now. As I expected, the run is in the 8-9 hour range. I've added the notes to the spreadsheet (pinned tweet) if anybody wants them.
More importantly, here's a picture of Ohgi that would make a fantastic emote. I love it. :)
Good news: I've been hard at work routing a SRW Z2-2 speedrun. It's progressing nicely, and I'm happy that some of my favorite characters are the main units.
Bad news: The instrumental version of O2 (Code Geass R2 OP) has been stuck in my head on a nonstop loop for days. 🙃
@kariohki The sad part is that as much as I have a reflex against dubs, I think that's the easiest restriction.
Action is just like "you have robots, girls with magically exploding clothes, or a bunch of school-age kids with special skills."
It's tough to work with. :/
Toying with the idea of watching an anime with my parents, but it's a hard sell. Dad's a bit hostile toward animation in general, so whatever I pick has to be very good.
Criteria: Action, no lewd, and English dub.
This is surprisingly difficult. :/
My thoughts so far:
Princess Mononoke - super safe, but movie is cheating
Cowboy Bebop - I don't remember if Faye is a problem
Gungrave - too video-gamey?
Big O - memory subjects are touchy
Trigun - too goofy?
Berserk - too lewd
Monster - too slow
FMA - ???
AoT - maximum ???
In today's (hopeless) job hunt news, I came across a listing for an Accountant that listed "creativity" as a desired trait.
I can guess what they meant, but seeing that word raised an eyebrow. That is absolutely not something I'd want from someone in that role.
Actually ended up re-watching the prequel trilogy entirely today instead of doing anything productive. Oops?
Revenge of the Sith is still my favorite of the whole lot. Glad to see that hasn't changed. 👍
I re-watched The Phantom Menace earlier today. Hadn't seen it since its original theater release, and honestly? It wasn't as bad as I remembered. Obvious rough spots, but the opening to the Darth Maul fight was very good.
Anti-climactic end for a cool-looking villain though.
