Strengthening environmental, health, safety, and regulatory compliance of Artisanal and Small- Scale Gold Miners

NEMA through the Environmental Compliance Department together with @Mglsd_UG is training Artisanal and Small- Scale Gold Miners in Kassanda District with the aim to streamline the sector by enhancing regulatory compliance, monitoring and strengthen collaboration between NEMA, MDAs, NGO’s, local governments, and the miners.

These practical knowledge and skills are necessary for the adoption of responsible and sustainable mining practices.

NEMA Executive Director @ABarirega has today elaborately answered questions from the environment assessors/practitioners on Environment Impact Assessments, Audits, Terms of Reference, Project Briefs and many others issues.

This effort is aimed at strengthening environment impact assessment in Uganda.
The environment impact assessors are private entities that operate through their umbrella organisation, the Uganda Association of Impact Assessment but certified by NEMA.
