In Maths today we have been working on our problem solving and reasoning skills when looking at symmetrical shapes. We showed great teamwork in the class by helping to explain and show others where we needed to put a mirror to find the correct mirror line. Great maths work
In Maths today we explored lines of symmetry on 2d shapes. As a class we discussed misconceptions, using lots of fantastic mathematical vocabulary. We also sorted out shapes into Venn and Carroll diagrams, using different criteria.

Today we welcomed @BirkdaleHS into school to teach us about animals and their habitats. We were so lucky that they brought in lots of different animals for us to get up close and personal with. We had a very informative afternoon and most of us even held the snake!
In guided reading we watched the short film, A Shadow of Blue, and made notes on how the character felt. We discussed how she was feeling at different parts in the film, then drew our mood graphs to track her feelings. This also helped to consolidate our maths work on line graphs
Today we looked at the song Giants by Take That, to link to our novel The BFG, then picked out the word strong and came up with synonyms. As a class we ranked the vocabulary, ensuring that the word kept its meaning in the lyric

We have loved the beginning of our geography topic on South America. So far we have looked at the physical and human features and used maps to find the four figure grid reference of the countries and capital cities in the continent #geography

Another fantastic session with @Ed_From_Anchor who taught us about verb inflections and standard English, to help us with our writing. We were always really lucky that he had time to teach us a new song to help us remember the rules. We will definitely be using it in the future!
