Something crazy that often happens in corporate is .. there’s always someone who think it’s their father’s house. A group of people who believe the world starts and ends in that office. And that’s wild because there’s more life outside work and its dynamics. Let me gist you.
I def think looks are given an outsized place in the hierarchy of what people value in romantic relationships. I also think most people end up reneging on or compromising their “type” when it comes to long-term compatibility, but no one has figured out how to talk about this without sounding shady to their partner or like they settled.
(Please note that this is not the same thing as saying that physical attraction is not important. You know you guys like to tussle ).
I believe this 100%. It's inconsiderate to desire to only speak big and deep things with strangers. Small talk is meant to build rapport, test the waters, to see what the vibe is. Doing too much too fast can make the other person uncomfortable. It's not fair to ask a stranger how
Recently, my workplace offered me a leadership role.
I politely declined because of some personal commitments that might affect my ability to deliver at the level I expect of myself.
Their response was gracious: “Whenever you’re ready, the role will be waiting. We want our high performers in these positions.”
Maturity is understanding that new roles come with greater responsibilities ,it’s not the time to relax or coast. It’s a call to step up.
There’s NOT ONE HUMAN BEING that I’ve cut off because of my values that I’ll EVER be dependent on or even need. God is too faithful to have me grovel at the feet of evil people to need help. If I’ve cut you off, best believe you are irrelevant to my destiny. Completely irrelevant. Please, cut people off as necessary. Know those you can rebuild with and those you MUST cut off.
YES
My entire degree and career choice centered around growing up poor. At 37 it’s clear to me that I was probably designed to do something else but I couldn’t afford to take that risk.
Eight months without a vacation. No salary.
Instead of giving up, I made a decision to survive with dignity. I started e-hailing, driving for Bolt and inDrive just to keep going.
Then everything changed.
My former boss called me to help with a crane installation project. The pay was ₦12,500 per day. I accepted immediately and paused my driving job.
One month later, we completed the project.
As I was preparing to return to e-hailing, my boss called again:
“Come to the office on Monday. A new company needs an Electrical Technician to handle the installation of an entire plant.”
I went, negotiated the contract, and we agreed on ₦20,000 per day until the project was completed.
For five weeks, I gave the job everything I had.
Then something happened that I never expected.
The expatriate project manager saw my work, spoke with the company on my behalf, and personally recommended me for full-time employment.
Today, I celebrate this win.
This journey reminded me that no honest work is ever wasted. Every experience prepared me for the opportunity that changed my story.
Never be ashamed of where you start. Stay humble, keep learning, and give your best in every assignment. The opportunity you’ve been praying for may be watching you before you even know it.
God’s timing is always perfect. 🙏❤️
The best career decision I’ve made this year was deciding that work no longer gets to be the center of my life.
Everything else has felt lighter since then 🧘🏾♀️
I am celebrating my first Canada day as a resident of this great country. After my journey in the United Kingdom, Canada opened its arms to welcome me and my wife.
We were told “welcome home” right at the airport. This is now home to my family and future generations.
Due to poor weather conditions, the Canada Day events at Mississauga Celebration Square and theCanada Celebrates FIFA World Cup 2026 are delayed.
For updates, please check the event hotline 905-615-3200 x 7465 or SaugaLIVE on Facebook or Instagram.
We are hoping the weather will clear up shortly so we can resume with the celebration. Safety is our first priority.
Oh Canada, my home of milk and honey.
May you continue to prosper for generations to come. May you remain a place of hope, safety, growth, and new beginnings for everyone who calls you home.
You have been good to me, and even with the ups and downs, I am grateful.
Happy Canada Day to us.
