Statement from Interim CATS CEO Brent Cagle:
“The approval of the one-cent sales tax for transit and transportation is a milestone occasion that officially puts us on the path to a more connected future.
This is a milestone occasion for our communities as this funding will now enable the opportunity to enhance transit services across the county, bringing the 2055 Transit System Plan to life and further moving people forward. CATS is immensely proud to have worked with our partners at all levels including our leaders in the General Assembly, the City of Charlotte, the towns of Huntersville, Davidson, Cornelius, Matthews, Mint Hill and Pineville, Mecklenburg County, Charlotte Regional Business Alliance (CRBA) and the community at large. We look forward to putting this plan into action.
Over the coming months, CATS will be in the community engaging with customers and neighbors about how this plan will move forward. We invite the community to visit https://t.co/NTm3WxyexJ to learn more on how the community’s transit plan is being put into action.”

@alexsands_@TTITAMU Exactly why we need to vote FOR the 1% Transportation Referendum in tomorrow’s election! Now is the time to improve the region’s transportation infrastructure.
A key milestone in Charlotte’s responsible growth efforts; this referral directly addresses conversations around the transportation referendum & impact on anti-displacement efforts. It shows the City’s commitment to decisively address potential issues through policy & planning.
@LPMecklenburg@axioscharlotte Widening roads will never be the solution. The solution must include public transit, including light rail & bus, so people have other reliable options to not use a car. There are still road projects to make our region safer for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists but transit is key
“The average Charlotte car commuter is spending a record 64 hours annually stuck in traffic - 11 hours more than they were in 2019.” @axioscharlotte
Vote FOR the critical 1% transportation referendum this Tuesday, November 4th to provide long-term transit solutions in our region
Every dollar matters these days and the cost of owning and maintaining a car can be thousands of dollars a year. Creating true public transit options is a critical need for our community, as Will Arden lays out in his Op-Ed in the @theobserver below. https://t.co/vXykrwsDmm
