Yeşim
I have absolutely no intention of fighting with you! You asked me to show you even one Jewish person who opposes Netanyahu's government, and I showed you an entire group of people! Does that mean every Jewish person is innocent? No! But does it mean every Jewish person is guilty? Absolutely not! Enough of putting entire populations into the same category! What exactly are we going to achieve by fighting each other like this?
Yes, I understand your anger! Yes, I understand your pain! And yes, I understand the suffering of the children in Gaza! I have been raising my voice too! I have joined demonstrations here in the Netherlands! I have marched in the Red Line protests! I have shouted against these atrocities just as you have! What more do you expect me to do? I don't own fighter jets! I don't have bombs! I don't work at the Pentagon, and I'm certainly not a senior Pentagon official! I carry the same anger, helplessness and heartbreak that you do!
But tell me, what am I supposed to do? Spend every single day poisoning my own life with despair? Stop living? Die? Would that save even one child in Gaza? Would that stop a single bomb?
And what do you know about my life? What do you know about the struggles I face here in the Netherlands? The battles I have been fighting, the injustices I have experienced, or the things I have had to endure? Absolutely nothing! So how can you judge me so easily?
I refuse to accept collective guilt, whether we're talking about Jews, Palestinians, Iranians, Turks or anyone else! I oppose governments, political ideologies, oppression and violence, not entire populations simply because of their identity!
We can stand against the killing of Palestinian children without turning every Jewish person into an enemy! We can demand justice without abandoning our humanity!
I am not your enemy! And I refuse to turn someone who shares my outrage over the suffering in Gaza into mine!
Enough! We will never get anywhere if we keep fighting each other instead of confronting those responsible for these atrocities!
I understand what you're saying, but I think you're making the same mistake that many people make when they judge an entire nation or religious community by the actions and beliefs of some of its members. Let me give you an example from my own country Turkey. In Turkey we have political Islamists, secular people, supporters of Atatürk and people with completely different political and ideological beliefs. Im a secular Turkish woman... I don't identify with political Islam nor do I support its ideology! Yet when someone hears that Im Turkish they may immediately associate me with the policies of the Turkish government as though every Turkish citizen thinks alike or supports the same political system! But nationality doesn't determine someone's political beliefs... Neither does religion!
The same applies to Jewish people! Being Jewish doesn't automatically make someone a Zionist, a supporter of Netanyahu or an opponent of Palestinian rights! Jewish identity and political ideology are not the same thing... Even within Orthodox Jewish communities, there are different views on Zionism and Israel and Im not saying this because someone told me so or because I have been fooled by anyone. I have personally witnessed Jewish people protesting against Netanyahu's government and standing up for Palestinian rights! I was there among them... I saw these people with my own eyes! How could I possibly ignore their voices, their courage and their opposition to what is happening to Palestinians, simply because they are Jewish?
I strongly oppose Zionist policies that justify occupation, oppression and violence against Palestinians! But I will not transfer that opposition to every Jewish person simply because of their religious or cultural identity. That would mean doing exactly what I have spent my life opposing, judging human beings collectively rather than individually! My position is not based on defending a religion, a nationality, or a government... Its based on respecting human life. I stand against oppression, regardless of who commits it, and I stand with those who oppose it, regardless of who they are. So please don't mistake my refusal to generalize for ignorance. I know the difference between a person's identity and the political ideology they choose to support and that distinction matters enormously to me.
I have nothing against Jewish people as a whole..! There are Jews who don't support Netanyahu's government n they are speaking out against it in the countries where they live! I see that n I acknowledge it...
But one thing is certain! I hate people who support Zionism n Nazism! I stand firmly against anything that stands against life itself!
