The hype around Orcas irritates me because Orcas are just dolphins that hit puberty, joined a gang, and started cosplaying as apex predators. A 6-ton tuxedo disappointment. They harvest liver like it’s profound, organ trafficking piece of shits. We've been apex since their ancestors looked like oversized penguins. They travel in pods because they can't sit with their own thoughts. We swim solo, while they need twenty cousins to bully a seal. They attack boats now, unemployment arc. People scream when we arrive, but they say “awwwnn” when they do. Their dorsal fin looks stepped on, while ours is a warning. We survived five extinctions while they survive on PR.
I remember when we did osmosis practical in secondary school and we were taught hypotonic and hypertonic solution using yam in dilute and concentrated solution of salt. This explains the fact that the yam is a semi permeable membrane (medium) so it can absorb anything into itself.
I wonder what these people are thinking because this is so barbaric.
Rejection is redirection, but constant rejection shrinks your ambition to only what is narrow and sure. Wins are just as important as losses as far as signals and direction go.
You wake up from a nap and it’s September 2006 again, Mom is in the kitchen making dinner. Your friends are yelling for you to come outside. The last 20 years were just a crazy dream. What's the first thing you're doing?
As a married man, I understand why people say this, but I don’t think it should be that simple.
My wife is my closest person. We talk about almost everything. But if someone tells me something in confidence, I don’t automatically take it home and tell her.
Marriage doesn’t mean every conversation you have outside your marriage becomes a conversation inside your marriage.
There are things people tell you because they trust you. If a friend tells me something deeply personal and says, "Please don’t tell anyone," I don’t think being married gives me permission to share it with my wife.
At the same time, if someone is telling me something they clearly expect to affect my family or my marriage, that’s different. My wife deserves to know things that directly concern her or our family.
So for me, the rule is simple, being married means you have someone you can share your life with. It doesn’t mean you stop knowing how to keep a confidence.
Trust is still trust, whether you’re married or single.
Church guy here again:
When physical intimacy is on pause, you’re forced to see your partner clearly. It removes the easy "glue" and tests what’s actually underneath.
Without sex blurring your judgment, the real questions get answered:
• Do we actually enjoy each other's personalities?
• How do we handle conflict when we're upset?
• Is there real substance here, or just chemistry?
From a Catholic perspective this isn't about restriction, it is about protection.
Lemme outline why it matters:
1. Chastity creates freedom. It stops two people from accidentally using each other for physical pleasure, allowing them to love each other as actual human beings.
2. Sex is a total gift. Intimacy says "I give all of myself to you forever." Keeping sex out of dating keeps your actions aligned with your current reality until full commitment is made.
3. Building Agape over Eros. Passion (Eros) is great, but self-sacrificing love (Agape) is what survives hard times. Pausing the physical forces you to build selfless love first.
If a relationship can't survive without sex, it wasn't going to survive with it anyway. You don't have to agree with what I say, but I don talk wetin Mother Church talk and I accept it.
I will give my Top Five.
1. Buy a really good pair of orthopedic house slippers. They will save your back and knees. Barefoot in the kitchen only works for 19 year olds.
2. Have a flexible meal rotation. I do take out on Mondays, “taco” Tuesdays (just generic Mexican-ish cooking, not actually tacos), pasta on Wednesdays, breakfast for dinner on Thursdays, pizza on Fridays, Burgers & hot dogs on Saturdays, and slow cooker Sundays.
3. Try to minimize. You don’t need to be a minimalist, but less stuff = less to clean.
4. If you have a larger family, break the kids apart to do stuff individually or in smaller groups as often as possible. Eg I take my bigger kids out for a “reading date” at a local restaurant once a month. Also go on dates with your husband - it is key.
5. If you are losing your mind and can’t remember anything, you probably need more sleep. Be ruthless in pursuit of it, since being well rested is like the Number One Most Important Tool in the Mom Toolbox.
Throwback to Barnabas Msheila a.k.a Sergeant Rogers confession of killing Kudirat Abiola at The Oputa Panel.
Rogers was a sniper and a member of Abacha’s strike force.
Oputa Panel was wild! We were all glued to our screens! Every single session become screaming headlines the next morning!
Mahn! We lived through a time!
There was no social media but people were being “offed” or “disappeared” for saying the wrong thing in the wrong place or in the presence of the wrong people…Naaah, those were dark days!
