when you tell queer kids they’re too young to know that queer people *exist* you’re really telling them they’re too young to love themselves, but never too young to be bullied, ostracized, isolated
Look around at your school, your workplace, your family, your friends. How safe are trans people there? Check in on your trans friends, donate to trans-led organisations, and keep paying attention. Keep showing up.
The #ReligiousDiscriminationBill has been indefinitely shelved and it's a moment of relief. But don't think it's over. This particular attack on our rights isn't moving forward for now. We're still dealing with the impact of having our existence & value debated again
If you got involved here, don't see this outcome as a reason to look away or stop showing up. Thank you to everyone who fought with trans people against this bill. We're not done yet.

@SamElkhorn @GLOBEMEL Will do! It would be great to see that letter also mention the disproportionate rates of incarceration for disabled people, especially neurodivergent/mentally ill people. Ableism is often left out of these conversations even though disability justice is central to decarceration.
Nominating a prison for a trans inclusion award is fundamentally incompatible with trans liberation. Prisons are part of the carceral system that targets trans people, POC especially Aboriginal people, and disabled people especially neurodivergent/mentally ill people @GLOBEMEL
