Just finished Colours of Fire. Beautiful concept, brilliant plot and refreshing cinematography. Truly unlike anything I’ve seen in Nollywood.
But the sets, costumes and fight choreography felt very Indian. Kò jọ́ tí àwọn bàbá wa rárá.
Abo oro la n so fun omoluabi!
Dear Creatives,
Be intentional about who you work with and where you create. Toxic people and unhealthy environments can quietly drain your confidence and creativity.
Protect your creative energy and choose spaces that inspire, challenge, and respect you.
Stay Jiggy!
Dear Creatives,
Beware of clients who notice every flaw but never acknowledge excellence.
Constructive criticism should help you grow, not slowly destroy your confidence.
Protect your creativity, your confidence, and your peace.
Stay jiggy!
Dear Creatives,
Be teachable. You don't know everything, and you won't always be right.
Growth begins when you stop seeing correction as an attack and start seeing it as an opportunity. Stay curious, ask questions, and never stop learning.
Stay Jiggy!
Dear Creatives,
Criticism is part of the job, so master it like you master your craft.
One of my best media jobs began with a simple brief: "Watch our videos and tell us what we can do better." That weekend of honest feedback became a paid role for almost a year.
Stay Jiggy!
Dear Creatives,
Do your best, but don't be afraid to leave the rest.
Give every project your best thinking, your best effort, and your best character. Once you've done that, let go with confidence. Excellence is your responsibility; everything else isn't.
Stay Jiggy!
Dear Creatives,
Clients dont pay you for pressing record. They pay for the years of learning, the equipment, the mistakes, and the experience behind the result.
Don't price only your time; price your value. Being affordable is good, but being unsustainable isn't.
Stay Jiggy!
Dear Creatives,
Don't lament; be proactive in thought. Every setback is an invitation to think differently, adapt, and create better opportunities. Stop asking, "Why me?" Start asking, "What's my next move?" That's where real growth begins.
Stay Jiggy!
Dear Creatives,
One clause I never overlook in a contract is my level of creative involvement.
I've learned that getting paid doesn't always mean feeling fulfilled.
Brethren,
Negotiate your voice and ensure your contract say so.
Stay Jiggy!
Dear Creatives,
I saw a discussion about Trace Music TV reportedly airing an AI-generated music video. Funny enough, I'd shared similar thoughts just a day earlier.
Whether we like it or not, AI is here.
Clients pay for results. Those who adapt will have the edge.
Stay Jiggy.
A client messaged me around 4 a.m. with feedback on a project I delivered just two hours earlier. I replied immediately. His first question was "You haven't slept yet?"
Sometimes, that's the reality of serious creatives. Excellence doesn't always keep office hours.
StayJiggy!
I don't watch movies for entertainment alone. I watch them as a student of the craft.
I study the storytelling, directing, cinematography, editing—even the mistakes. I mentally proffer better solutions because one day, projects like these will land on my table.
StayJiggy!
Dear Creatives,
Don't say "no" because the price isn't right. Today's conversation could become tomorrow's opportunity.
Know your worth and have a standard rate, but be flexible when it makes strategic business sense. Flexibility isn't a weakness, it's maturity.
Stay jiggy.
Dear Creatives,
One lesson that stayed with me after watching Michael Jackson: The Movie is the power of time management.
Nothing bad in working for others but never let the paycheck replace the dream that once kept you awake.
Jobs can end. Your dream shouldn't.
Stay jiggy.
Dear Creatives,
A friend recommended me for an MC job, and I declined.
Not because I couldn't try, but because I'm not an MC. I'm a scriptwriter, video editor, and filmmaker. Professionalism is knowing your lane and staying in it, respect other people's expertise.
Stay jiggy.
Dear Creatives,
Make every client feel like they're getting something specially crafted for them. Stay true to the brief, but always go the extra mile by adding value they didn't expect. Distinguish yourself by delivering what they or even someone around them cannot easily do.
