Remembering Hantharwaddy U Win Tin, a politician, a journalist and political prisoner of the former regime and bastion of freedom who wore his prison blue shirt even after he was freed saying “as long as all political prisoners are not released, we too are prisoners”.

U Win Tin lived his entire life dedicated to democracy, justice and press freedom. He was highly skeptical of the NLD decision to join the invitation to join the regime’s democracy “reform” process in 2012/2013. He passed away on 21 April 2014.

1/3 Myanmar's campaign for #BlueShirtDay2021 launched on Wednesday, demanding the release of all political prisoners detained by the coup regime. The blue shirts are a tribute to veteran journalist and activist Win Tin, who spent 19 years in prison and died 7 years ago today.
